Avici Systems Achieves ISO 9002 Certification
Business Wire, Sept 4, 2002
Business/Technology Editors
N. BILLERICA, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 4, 2002
Avici Systems (Nasdaq: AVCI), the specialist in reliable routing for the Internet, today announced that it has achieved International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9002 certification.
"This represents a strategic quality milestone for Avici," said Ed Maggio, vice president, manufacturing. "ISO certification is recognized by many large global carriers throughout the world as a standard of quality excellence. With a recognized Quality Management System in place, Avici is committed to meeting or exceeding customer requirements for quality and reliability."
Certification was confirmed after an extensive audit by TUV America Inc., Management Service division (www.TUVamerica.com), an internationally recognized certification organization providing management system certification services as a leading ISO 9000 registrar in North America, Asia and Europe.
"By becoming ISO 9002 certified, Avici has firmly established itself as a leader in quality and reliability in all aspects of their organization," said Ed Surette, lead auditor, TUV America Inc., Management Service division. " Avici's maturity in its quality processes was evidenced by its ability to achieve zero non-conformances during its first attempt at ISO certification. This is one the few times I've seen this in my career," added Surette.
ISO 9002 is an international standard adopted by more than 70 countries around the world. It specifies the requirements for the implementation of a process approach in developing, implementing and improving the effectiveness of a company's quality management system, and to enhance customer satisfaction by understanding and meeting customer requirements.
