BASKING RIDGE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--September 5, 2002

AT&T today announced it would assist prepaid Internet customers stranded by Slingshot Communications to regain access to the Internet. For a limited time, if customers send AT&T their Slingshot Prepaid Internet CD or refill card, AT&T will provide them a free AT&T PrePaid Internet Service start-up CD with up to 8 hours of Internet Service time.

AT&T PrePaid Internet Service is the company's flexible, pay-as-you-go Internet Service introduced last year. It comes with one e-mail account and is perfect for consumers who don't want a monthly fee, need a travel Internet service to complement their home or office access or want a back-up service.

"Recognizing how vital Internet access is to consumers these days, we want to help Slingshot customers who have been stranded without it," says Mark Evans, vice president of marketing and sales for AT&T Prepaid Services. "They already understand the convenience and flexibility of a prepaid Internet service, and we are happy to offer them this free introduction to the advantages of AT&T PrePaid Internet Service, powered by our award-winning AT&T Worldnet(R) Service."

To take advantage of the AT&T PrePaid Internet Service free offer, which is available through Sept. 30, 2002, customers should send their Slingshot CD or refill card with access number, proof of purchase (if available), customer name, shipping address and alternate e-mail address to:

AT&T PrePaid Services
Attn: PROJECT SLINGSHOT
Capital Park South - Building #4
2989 Lewis Center Way
Grove City, Ohio 43123

Consumers can call 1-888-485-4442 or go to www.att.com/prepaidinternet for the address and information on the offer. The offer is available to consumers only and is limited to one start-up package per household. Retailers are not eligible.

AT&T PrePaid Internet Service is available at a growing number of participating retailers and online at www.att.com/prepaidinternet. The standard retail start-up package is available in two denominations: eight hours of Internet Service time for $9.99 or 20 hours for $19.99. Additional Internet Service minutes can be purchased for $19.99 (20 hours) or $29.99 (30 hours.) Both dial-up and 800/888 access numbers are available; Internet Service minutes will be used up more quickly with the 800/888 numbers.

AT&T PrePaid Internet Service is powered by the company's consumer subscription Internet service provider (ISP) AT&T Worldnet Service. One of the leading ISPs in the United States, AT&T Worldnet Service has been consistently rated as among the most reliable. It offers consumers simpler Internet access, with less clutter, spam and pop-up advertising. With faster log-on times and fewer disconnects, AT&T Worldnet customers get on, and stay on, the Internet when they want. In 2001, AT&T Worldnet Service was recognized by Network World, PC World, InfoWorld, Smart Money, PC Magazine, J.D. Power and Associates and Solomon-Wolff Associates. No other ISP has received as many awards for performance and customer satisfaction in one year.
