MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 2002
Insignia Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:ISIG) announced today that it has signed a three-year corporate agreement with The Kroger Co. that allows all of the retailer's divisions to participate in the Insignia Point-Of-Purchase Services (POPS)(R) program.
Kroger is one of the nation's largest retail grocery chains, operating more than 2,400 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 32 states under approximately two dozen banners, including Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Food 4 Less, King Soopers, Smith's, Fry's and Fry's Marketplace, Dillon, QFC and City Market. The POPS program at Kroger is currently in approximately 581 stores, including Fred Meyer, Kroger's Michigan division, Kroger's Mid-Atlantic division, QFC and Smith's. This agreement will potentially add more than 1,800 stores to the POPS network, bringing the entire POPS network of chain retail supermarkets and drug stores to over 12,000.
"We are extremely excited about this opportunity to expand our relationship with Kroger," stated Scott Drill, President and CEO, Insignia Systems, Inc. "Kroger has been a valued partner for many years and has been instrumental in helping us develop the POPS program since its earliest stages in 1996. The opportunity to bring the exceptional performance of POPS to all Kroger divisions will be very significant to our participating brand manufacturers and will have a meaningful, positive impact on our financial performance in fiscal year 2003 and beyond."
Insignia's Point-Of-Purchase Services (POPS) program is a fully featured, shelf-edge sign that delivers a complete "call to action" at the point-of-purchase, while building store and brand equity. Insignia POPS allows manufacturers to deliver product-specific promotional messages quickly and accurately - in designs and formats that have been pre-approved and supported by participating retailers.
