ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2003
The latest Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) applications, implemented in just one month, are helping World Oil Corp. improve financial analysis capabilities and automate administrative processes. Specifically, the software provides World Oil Corp. executives with a streamlined system so they can evaluate existing and new business opportunities relative to profitability and improve operational efficiencies across the company's 10 divisions.
World Oil Corp. was previously using an application service provider and wanted to bring its accounting system back in-house. The petroleum company licensed Lawson Series 8 Financials and Enterprise Performance Management on Nov. 26, 2002, and needed to be live by Jan. 1, 2003.
In less than one month, World Oil Corp., working with the Lawson sales and implementation teams, met the aggressive deadline. World Oil Corp. went live on the Lawson applications Dec. 22, 2002. Currently, more than 40 employees access World Oil Corp.'s Lawson system. The company also licensed Lawson Procurement and plans to implement the purchasing suite later this year.
"We understood World Oil's priorities and aggressive implementation needs," said Joanne Byrd, senior vice president for services, Lawson Software. "Our services team used a proven migration plan to eliminate and reduce the risk of implementation setbacks. This enabled us to beat the deadline by one week."
Established in 1941, South Gate, Calif.-based World Oil Corp. operates two refineries, a marine terminal, high-volume service stations, two environmental entities and two transportation entities.
Lawson Financials help manage World Oil Corp.'s compliance, cash flow, accounts payable and receivable, analysis and reporting, so executives can make decisions faster. Lawson Enterprise Performance Management analyzes data according to specified parameters, enabling World Oil Corp. employees to produce reports for key stakeholders more quickly and accurately.
"Given the varied nature of our businesses, Lawson provides operational reporting flexibility, while meeting our standardized consolidation requirements," said Chris Mahoney, chief financial officer, World Oil Corp.
Once implemented, Lawson Procurement will track all of World Oil Corp.'s purchases in real time. The company then plans to integrate the Financial, Procurement and Enterprise Performance Management suites, so employees can view information from a single source of data. World Oil Corp. also plans to consolidate its processing tasks over the next 3 months and integrate its Lawson applications with other front-end and third-party systems, such as hand-held devices, to further streamline administrative processes.
"Lawson affords us confidence that our growth plans will be accommodated by a system that reduces incremental transaction processing costs," said Robert Roth, president, World Oil Corp.
