HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 11, 2003

Chiyoda Corporation of Japan and the Process, Power & Offshore division of Intergraph Corporation (Nasdaq:INGR) have signed a long term contract for implementation and development of global information management and project engineering software. Under terms of the agreement, Intergraph and Chiyoda will work to further refine engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) requirements within Intergraph SmartPlant(R) Foundation and The Engineering Framework. Intergraph will use Chiyoda's internally developed i-PLANT21 system as a knowledge resource for these additional EPC requirements. Chiyoda plans to employ SmartPlant Foundation as its worldwide project engineering document and data management system by year end, followed by implementation of The Engineering Framework in 2004.

Senior Executive Officer of Technology & Engineering, Yoshihiro Shirasaki, Chiyoda Corporation, said, "SmartPlant Foundation coupled with The Engineering Framework will comprise a single, commercial off-the-shelf system to support our worldwide projects while reducing cost and improving engineering. The associated data and expertise in Chiyoda's i-PLANT21 project engineering environment will be incorporated in the Intergraph system. Combining Intergraph technology with the knowledge in i-PLANT21 will prove mutually beneficial to both companies. The resultant system will help Chiyoda to deliver projects better and serve plant owner demands for delivery of integrated lifecycle information systems."

Chiyoda received the Donald S. Barrie Award in 2001 from the Project Management Institute for a technical paper on i-PLANT21, "Evolution of Project Engineering in Process Plant Projects."

Ben Eazzetta, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore, said, "We are confident the Intergraph technology has high potential to benefit Chiyoda's customers and partners through improved collaboration in joint venture activities and standardized engineering best practices. Chiyoda is in a particularly strong position to contribute to a technical alliance with Intergraph in the development of an entirely new project engineering environment. The experience, knowledge and technical capabilities contained in Chiyoda's i-PLANT21 will be an invaluable contribution to the relationship and to the advancement of SmartPlant Foundation and The Engineering Framework in the E&C environment. This technology already features substantial contributions from plant owner-operators. By incorporating additional, significant input from Chiyoda as a global EPC, the Intergraph technology will better meet the requirements of primary participants in the plant lifecycle."

SmartPlant Foundation and TEF Create the Plant Lifecycle Information Asset

SmartPlant Foundation (www.intergraph.com/infomgmt) manages the availability, integrity and accuracy of engineering information. It builds an electronic library about a plant and its configuration - structure, tags, assets and documents. It encompasses a plant's initial design and ongoing operating upgrades and modifications, defining and driving electronic work processes, tracking changes and managing engineering revisions. Open, independent data storage and access manages data from both Intergraph and third party authoring applications and protects and increases the value of engineering information, regardless of the IT infrastructure in place. The backbone of a common architecture that extends across all Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore information management solutions, SmartPlant Foundation enables collaborative engineering and the creation of the plant information asset for strategic business advantage.

The Engineering Framework (TEF) is an enterprise-wide engineering integration architecture, bundled exclusively with SmartPlant Foundation. TEF enables the flow and exchange of data as it moves among engineering and design applications and provides information and change management and version control in addition to global data access and reuse. Current TEF-enabled applications include SmartPlant 3D, SmartPlant P&ID and INtools as well as third-party applications such as Aspen Zyqad. SmartPlant Foundation provides the engineering database capabilities for TEF.
