SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 2003
Industry-leading IM management solution addresses
top security concerns for enterprise IT
At the RSA Conference 2003, IMlogic, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure software solutions for the rapidly growing Instant Messaging (IM) market, today announced the next version of its flagship product, IM Manager 5.0. The new release of the company's enterprise-class IM management solution provides the central infrastructure for securing and controlling corporate IM. IMlogic IM Manager 5.0 adds comprehensive security, content filtering, and anti-spam protection to existing control, reporting, archiving and compliance capabilities, enabling companies to embrace and leverage IM as a business tool.
During the recent Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2003 (March 25, 2003), analysts identified instant messaging security as one of the "Top 11 Security Issues for 2003." According to Gartner, "The ubiquity of this basic collaborative tool is creating worrisome 'holes'... and can put networks and information at risk." Gartner also highlighted the importance of security platforms and auditability in maintaining control over the corporate infrastructure. With more than 25 million business users of IM in the United States (Yankee Group), expected to grow at a rate of 200% (Giga), IM security will continue to be a priority for corporate IT departments.
IM Manager 5.0 directly addresses these concerns by providing the centralized solution for management, security, and policy enforcement for previously uncontrolled IM usage. Proven to be scalable and robust, the product meets rigorous enterprise IT requirements while its extensible architecture enables companies to leverage existing security infrastructure, or incorporate best-of-breed and corporate-standard solutions.
IM Manager 5.0's new features include:
-- Anti-Virus Protection: Out-of-the-box virus scanning
capability and selective file transfer controls reduce the
risk of virus propagation over IM networks.
-- Content Filtering: Keyword blocking and notifications ensure
IM content supports business goals, and elevates IM from a
chat tool to a business productivity application.
-- Anti-Spam Protection: Spam identification tools and controls
block unwanted messages and maintain the sanctity of the IM
infrastructure.
-- Open and Extensible Architecture: Flexibility to deploy the
native IMlogic security features, or integrate with
best-of-breed or corporate-standard security products, while
still maintaining a centrally managed IM infrastructure.
-- Policy Enforcement: Ensure compliance with industry
regulations for archiving and logging, provision and map
employee IM screen names to corporate identities to monitor
usage, and control employee access to IM networks based on a
business case or corporate policy.
"IM Manager 5.0 provides organizations with the core technology to support an enterprise IM strategy," said Francis deSouza, President and CEO of IMlogic. "By providing tools to control and secure IM usage, we are allowing IT Managers to add IM to the suite of communication tools offered to employees, and control its usage as they would any other mission-critical application."
