MELBOURNE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 2003
Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) announced today that EDS Corporation (NYSE:EDS) has selected its information assurance software for deployment on the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) program. After rigorous testing and evaluation by EDS evaluators and a team of security specialists from Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTN), the STAT(R) Analyzer software from Harris was selected to provide vulnerability assessment, reporting, and management components of the NMCI network.
NMCI is a comprehensive, enterprise-wide initiative to make the full range of network-based information services available to sailors and Marines in supporting day-to-day operations, as well as times of conflict. NMCI will give the Navy and Marine Corps secure, universal access to integrated voice, video and data communications. It will also afford pier-side connectivity to Navy vessels in port and link over 360,000 desktop computers across the U.S., Puerto Rico, Japan, Cuba and Guam.
STAT Analyzer automates the control of multiple network modeling and scanning tools, and then uses powerful evaluation algorithms to provide an accurate view of a network's vulnerabilities that are correlated to security policy. This broad perspective allows network and security managers to have comprehensive situational awareness with respect to network vulnerabilities.
"The STAT Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) compliance tool is very flexible and will be used by NMCI's industry delivery partners and the government to assess the NMCI network," said Bart Abbott, Raytheon's NMCI program manager.
