Dave Moellenhoff Named Runner up for CTO of the Year for His

Innovation and Leadership in on-Demand Customer Relationship

Management Applications

Salesforce.com, the technology and market leader in on-demand customer relationship management (CRM), announced today that InfoWorld Media Group, the provider of in-depth analysis of enterprise technology and strategies through its integrated online, print, research and events channels, has named salesforce.com CTO Dave Moellenhoff one of two runners up for InfoWorld's CTO of the Year award. InfoWorld's editorial board chose Moellenhoff from among its "25 Most Influential CTOs for 2002" on the basis of his leadership within salesforce.com and the broader community, technical innovation, scope of influence and impressive results. Fellow honorees include Mike Sayers, CTO at Reuters (NASDAQ:RTRSY), as runner up and former Merrill Lynch (NYSE:MER) CTO John McKinley as CTO of the year. Profiles of these technology leaders can be found in the March 31, 2003, issue of InfoWorld magazine, available online at http://www.infoworld.com.

"Salesforce.com's radical vision of software as an on-demand utility, supported by a Web Services architecture, is now reality for 6000-plus salesforce.com customers," Moellenhoff said. "Our success is grounded in a company-wide commitment to providing the best application utility on the market, and I am very flattered to be honored by InfoWorld for my effort and contribution."

A recent Gartner survey found that 42 percent of all enterprise CRM software licenses purchased are never deployed (Gartner Group, March 2003). In contrast to unused software, salesforce.com offers a subscription-based service that provides on-demand CRM functionality for immediate success. Its users receive all the advantages of a utility delivery system in terms of cost, risk and ease of use. Salesforce.com currently has over 6,000 customers and 80,000 users in 110 countries, making it the world's most successful application utility.

Moellenhoff co-founded salesforce.com in the spring of 1999. Moellenhoff previously has been recognized as a Premier 100 IT Leader by Computerworld magazine, and a Top 25 Most Influential CTO and Top 10 Technology Innovator by InfoWorld magazine. In addition to his salesforce.com duties, Moellenhoff also sits on the board of the salesforce.com/foundation, a multi-million dollar philanthropic initiative focused on bridging the digital divide.
