WAYNE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2003
Audible, Inc. (OTC BB: ADBL) today announced that the company's secure audio formats and 34,000 hours of information and entertainment audio are commercially available for Texas Instruments Incorporated's (TI) OMAP(TM) platform.
Mobile devices, such as the new Palm(TM) Zire(TM) 71 handheld, that feature the high performance and extended battery life of the OMAP platform with Audible's software, enable mobile users to listen to best selling and classic audiobooks, audio editions of newspapers and magazines, language learning, public radio, comedy, and original programs.
With the emergence of membership-based legal music services, the delivery of copyright-secure audio formats like Audible's audio over the Internet is poised for tremendous growth. "With the addition of Audible's popular spoken audio format to the list of audio and music formats that the OMAP platform already supports, we make it possible for device manufacturers to provide their customers with access to the best downloadable audio content available on the Internet today," said Paul Werp, worldwide director of marketing for TI's OMAP platform. "Applications and content will continue to be important differentiators for device manufacturers. Working with Audible and other OMAP Developer Network members provides OMAP platform customers with the leading wireless applications."
"Audible is proud to welcome another industry-leading technology partner who supports our mission of providing the best spoken audio downloads over the Internet," stated Guy Story, chief scientist, Audible, Inc.
