NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 28, 2003
Alliance, the Entertainment Marketing partner of Grey Global Group, has created a partnership between Atlantic Records Grammy award nominated artist, Nappy Roots, and the Eat More, Get Nappy Sweepstakes on behalf of Pringles and Pierre Foods.
Pierre Foods and Pringles have awarded the grand prize in their Eat More, Get Nappy Sweepstakes to Zephryillis High's Matt Kuykendall. On May 5th, Nappy Roots will perform a free concert for students from Zephryillis High featuring songs from their platinum selling CD, Watermelon Chicken and Gritz.
The promotion launched in January in high schools throughout Florida. Students purchased a Pierre sandwich and Pringles combo and received a game piece and instant win prizes including T-shirts, hats, and portable sports radio. Students sent in their game piece for the random drawing grand prize of a Nappy Roots concert at the winner's school along with a private meeting with the band.
"This program is a clear case study on how to maximize the power and reach of entertainment with youth to help build a unique, exciting promotion that drives sales," said Mike Malone, Sr. Development Director at Alliance. "The combination of maximizing the Pringles brand and its in-school distribution partner Pierre Foods with a top, high profile act with mass appeal to high school students is a recipe for success."
Marko Mijac, Pringles Brand Manager at Procter & Gamble says, "Pringles and Pierre Foods are ideal partners to build student participation at school cafeterias. And if we can do that by bringing some additional excitement to schools and students with the Nappy Roots concert, everyone wins. We are excited to extend this to a national promotion for next year."
Glenn Roberts, Marketing Manager at Pierre Foods agrees, "This program has been a huge success we are very excited about the possibility of rolling it out nationally. Schools are our most important customer and we will continuously be looking at ways to provide them with the best quality and most innovative marketing programs to build student participation."
