REMINDER...for Tuesday (April 29)

--(BUSINESS WIRE)

Government and Internet Industry Leaders Gather at AOL Headquarters to Step Up the Fight Against Spam

Critical Chapter in Spam Fight is Opened, With New Criminal Penalties Introduced

What: Virginia Governor Mark Warner and Virginia Attorney General
Jerry Kilgore will be at AOL's Headquarters in Dulles, VA
to join with America Online executives, employees and other
industry leaders to unveil the toughest anti-spam law in
the country. The event comes on the eve of the first-ever
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) forum on spam, to be held in
           Washington, DC, April 30-May 2.

This new anti-spam law moves beyond civil and monetary
penalties by introducing the strongest criminal penalties
in the nation, which could result in asset forfeiture and
even jail time for the most egregious spammers. This law
also allows AOL to protect its members against spammers who
send email to AOL's Virginia-based computer network, and
now allows them to be criminally prosecuted in Virginia by
           law enforcement.

Why: The Internet and consumers are facing a spam crisis.
Already estimated by the Internet Industry to represent up
to 45 percent of all email, spam volume is anticipated to
double in the next six months, costing U.S. businesses more
than $10 billion this year, including $4 billion in lost
           productivity.

Who: Virginia Governor Mark Warner, Virginia Attorney General
Jerry Kilgore, America Online Chairman and CEO Jon Miller,
America Online Vice Chairman Ted Leonsis, Northern Virginia
Technology Council President Bobbie Kilberg, Verizon
Virginia President Robert Woltz, and other industry
           leaders.
