MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2003

Xecom Inc., a leader in the global embedded communications market, today announced its XE0092 Telephone Interface Module also known as a DAA (Data Access Arrangement). The XE0092 module contains a complete, solid-state DAA solution in a compact, low-cost, surface-mount design. This device is suitable for voice, audio, dual tone multiple frequency (DTMF), data and fax applications. Its high level of integration provides users with a smaller device footprint, a lower cost total solution, and a faster time to market for their end product.

The XE0092 incorporates Network isolation, loop-current holding circuit, solid-state hook switch, ring detector, 2-4 wire converter and Caller ID pass-through functions. All of these features are necessary for connecting a voice, audio, or data application to the telephone line. The clear signal path provided by the XE0092, less than 80 dB of 2nd harmonic distortion, provides for higher fidelity. Its low distortion permits reliable 56Kbps data signals to be supported, thus enabling higher signal throughput. The XE0092 has the flexibility to operate at either 3.3 Volts or 5 volts and draws just 10 milliamps of current while operating on 3.3 Volts.

Besides having the features and performance needed to support a wide variety of applications the XE0092 also has the low cost of ownership required to be economically attractive. That low cost of ownership not only includes a low price, but a compact, surface mount package and FCC Part 68 compliance. Compliance to Part 68 Rules speeds time to market by reducing design and test requirements and uncertainty in certification. The compact surface mount package, just 1.20" X 1.00" X 0.3", reduces board space and assembly costs.

Mr. Steve Clary, Vice President of Marketing said, "We have created the XE0092 as an easy to use, complete DAA. It incorporates all of the functions necessary to satisfy the connectivity requirements of a wide variety of applications and is presented in a low cost, compact, and convenient surface-mount package. We expect that the XE0092 will be the DAA of choice for many cost sensitive connectivity applications."

Applications

Because of its general-purpose design, the XE0092 can be used in a wide variety of applications in voice for 911 emergency systems, security systems, and audio patch-to-telephone lines. Data applications in remote monitoring applications include hand-held terminals, security systems, and point of sale terminals. Security applications exist in the fax sector. Audio patch-to-telephone line applications also exist in the audio sector.

Price and Delivery

The Xecom XE0092 DAA is available from stock in sample quantities. The unit price is $5.55 in 10,000 piece quantities.
