Reischling Adopts Pageflex Web-Top Publishing For On-Demand Printing from Xerox iGen3

Business Wire, August 5, 2003

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 5, 2003

Pageflex (Nasdaq:BITS), a leader in Web-top publishing, announced an agreement to license Mpower 4.0, its composition engine for one-to-one marketing solutions, and .EDIT 2.0, its browser-based editing tool, to Reischling Press Inc. (RPI), Seattle-based suppliers of on-demand printing services.

"The Mpower 4.0 features that support production of documents of varying length in a single project are especially important for the new line of hardcover photo books we're launching with our partner Snapfish (www.snapfish.com), a division of District Photo, the world's largest mail-order photo-finishing company," said Mark Gustafson, Chief Technical Officer of Reischling affiliate iPads.com Inc. (www. ipads.com). "In fact, the integration of Pageflex composition technology with Xerox printing technology is our overall strategy for winning share in all the business-to-customer (B2C) markets we service."

RPI targets clients whose printed materials deliver volatile content, resulting in frequent tight deadlines and short runs. The company chooses its equipment to best suit high-speed printing for these specialty markets and has recently integrated a Xerox iGen3 into its production process. Pageflex composition software will streamline the workflow for such RPI output as technical user manuals; customized textbooks and paperback books; disclosure documents for publicly-held companies; case reports for pharmaceutical companies; municipal financials and state and federal appellate briefs; full-color catalogs and brochures; and personalized variable-image flyers and greeting cards.

"Pageflex Web-top publishing, combined with a high-end digital printing system like the Xerox iGen3, is an ideal solution for on-demand delivery of materials customized and personalized by the client," explained David Frenkel, Pageflex General Manager. "For print customers this translates into significant savings by preventing literature obsolescence and reducing kitting costs and pre-press labor."

About Mpower and .EDIT

Pageflex Mpower software allows clients to design and produce customized marketing materials on demand. Mpower collects individual customer data -- including demographics, interests, and preferences -- and intelligently and automatically embeds it into customized marketing communications. Mpower also generates variable-length materials on the fly, dynamically selecting and including relevant, up-to-date customer information based on parameters users define on a Web site.

Pageflex .EDIT is the first Web-based design and editing application that enables non-designers to create typographically-rich, layout-rich documents with nothing more than a browser and an Internet connection. .EDIT takes Web-to-print solutions to a new level of interactivity, enabling companies to offer online document editing capabilities to customers, employees, marketing partners, and dealers or franchise owners, directly through a corporate Web site.

About Reischling Press

RPI is a full-service on-demand printing operation dedicated to helping clients avoid the higher costs, inventory hassles, and storage expense of longer print runs. On-demand printing lets clients quickly reprint titles when inventory runs low or demand exceeds forecasts; economically fulfill smaller-quantity literature, manual, or customized textbook needs for niche markets; target specific audiences using one-to-one mail marketing campaigns; and keep printed brochures, manuals, or textbooks current by updating content more often. RPI clients include Appian Graphics, supplier of graphics cards to Dell Computer, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Chase Manhattan, and Goldman Sachs; Amgen, the largest biopharmaceutical company in the U.S. Northwest; and ARIS Corp., a leading education, consulting, and software company.

Located in downtown Seattle in 20,000 square feet of newly customized space, Reischling Press (www.rpiprint.com) was incorporated in 1979 by CEO Barry Reischling, who was joined in 1994 by his son Ted, now President and COO of RPI and CEO of iPads.com Inc.

About Pageflex

Pageflex (www.pageflexinc.com) is the pioneer of a new direction in composition software: Web-top publishing. Moving beyond desktop publishing, the company's Web-top publishing software helps novice users create high-quality printed products using intelligent, flexible templates, without installing or learning any new software. Pageflex templates are intelligent and flexible because professional designers can set rules to define which elements can change, how much they can change, and who can change them. The company's products maintain corporate identity and design integrity while enabling sophisticated customization of documents. Pageflex also leads the field in variable-data composition software for both enterprise and desktop.

Pageflex software is used for a wide variety of applications, including on-demand marketing materials, stationery and business cards, advertising, catalogs, and personalized digital printing. Pageflex products are distributed through original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), value-added resellers (VARs), applications service providers (ASPs), and system integrators (SIs). The Pageflex worldwide customer base includes manufacturers, service providers, advertising agencies, commercial printers, graphic design houses and ASPs. Users of Pageflex products include Xerox, IBM, Ford, EFI, Coldwell Banker, Wunderman, Valassis, Consolidated Graphics, Mail-Well, httprint, Moore Wallace, and Spire.
