LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 5, 2003
Britney Spears' debut single, "Me Against The Music," from her new album "In The Zone," features the hot new writing partnership of peermusic's RedZone writers Tricky Stewart, P Magnet and Terius Marsh.
Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and Penelope Magnet had only written three songs together when the young duo approached Spears with a proposition to work together. After Spears bonded with the duo, Stewart and P Magnet collaborated on the new single, with Terius Marsh, and came up with the lyrics and melody of the hot new single that features Madonna as a guest vocalist.
"Getting a chance to hang out with Britney and talk to her and get in her world made it a lot easier to actually write and know what she would and wouldn't say, to know where her real vibe is," says Magnet. She adds, "It's extremely aggressive. It immediately makes you feel like something's happening...it's as if she's in a club, losing herself in the music."
After Spears embraced "Me Against The Music," RedZone was then chosen to further contribute their talents to several other tracks on "In The Zone," including writing the lyrics for "Early Morning," a single that Moby produced; recording vocals for "Outrageous," produced by R. Kelly; and "The Hook Up," which the team wrote and produced.
Tricky Stewart, over the course of the last several years, has emerged as one of the top writer/producers in the R&B/hip-hop world. Stewart discovered and signed Blu Cantrell to RedZone and wrote and produced several songs for her platinum Arista debut album. Stewart has also written and produced material for Mya, J.T. Money, and Sole, and has worked with Ginuwine, Sisqo, Tyrese, Chante Moore and B2K.
P Magnet, a 19-year-old natural born songwriter/performer from Atlanta, Georgia, wrote, sang and produced for Atlanta-based local groups until she met Tricky Stewart through a mutual friend, who asked her to come to his studio to write for one of his groups. Impressed with her songwriting and production abilities, he immediately asked her to join his RedZone production team, and she was signed as a writer to RedZone's 2414 Music/peermusic by Tricky's brother Mark Stewart. Along with writing and producing for RedZone, P Magnet will be releasing her own debut album in 2004.
Terius Youngdell Nash, also known as "The Dream," is also a native of Atlanta who was introduced to the third Stewart brother of RedZone Entertainment, Laney Stewart, in 2001, after which he immediately began writing with the Stewart brothers for B2K. In early 2003, "The Dream" was signed by Laney Stewart to a new publishing deal with Morningside Trail through a joint venture with peermusic.
