DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 2003

China Southern Airlines (NYSE:ZNH) (HKSE:1055), the largest airline in The People's Republic of China, is pleased to announce that 10 additional flight dispatchers at its System Operations Control Center have been tested, passed and are now fully certified by the Federal Aviation Administration.

"Since 1996, there have been 33 graduates of FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certification for China Southern Airlines' SOC operations," said Mr. Yuan Xin'an, Vice President, China Southern Airlines.

He added that, "At China Southern Airlines, we pride ourselves on safety, safety, safety and the benchmark are the accomplishments of the staff which makes China's largest airline the best airline in China. Our flight dispatchers are now just as qualified as those working at airports in Los Angeles, London, Tokyo or anywhere else in the world."

According to Mr. Yuan, initially only two flight dispatchers studied and graduated in Dallas during 1996 and 1997 but, "since then, China Southern Airlines has had training courses in 1998, 2000 and 2002 with 10 dispatchers participating each year."

All of China Southern Airlines' flight dispatchers have passed ATP and ADX tests offered by the FAA -- with some receiving the highest class scores available -- especially the 2002 Graduating Class.

"We began the course study on October 8, 2002 and had to finish 15 topics of theoretical courses in five weeks of study in Guangzhou and then fly to Dallas for testing by the FAA," said Ms. Shen Xiujun, Flight Dispatcher, China Southern Airlines. She added that one of her biggest challenges was to learn all of the information in a foreign language.

"I'm sure if the examinations in Dallas were offered in Cantonese, everyone in the graduating class would all have gotten 100% of the answers correct," said Ms. Shen.

The largest airline in The People's Republic of China for the past 23 years, China Southern Airlines (www.cs-air.com/en) connects more than 80 cities around the globe. Major business and vacation destinations served in China include: Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Guilin, Hong Kong, Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Wuhan, as well as international service, including: Amsterdam, Bangkok, Fukuoka, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Islamabad, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Los Angeles, Manila, Melbourne, Moscow, Osaka, Penang, Phnom Penh, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
