SeeBeyond To Serve As eAI Enterprise Standard for Sharp
HealthCare's Technology Infrastructure
SeeBeyond (Nasdaq:SBYN), the leading global provider of eBusiness and Application Integration (eAI) solutions, today announced Sharp HealthCare, an integrated, regional healthcare delivery system based in San Diego, California, has selected the SeeBeyond(R) Business Integration Suite to assist in accelerating its efforts in becoming compliant with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) mandates. Once HIPAA compliance is achieved, the second phase of the partnership will include leveraging the SeeBeyond platform as the eAI standard for the entire Sharp HealthCare technology infrastructure, enabling Sharp HealthCare to achieve considerable organizational and operational efficiencies.
With four acute-care hospitals, three specialty hospitals and three medical groups, plus a full spectrum of other facilities and services, Sharp HealthCare, like many healthcare organizations, faced significant challenges across the extended enterprise in order to meet the government-mandated HIPAA standards. In addition, Sharp HealthCare was also interested in deploying technology that could help it quickly realize the added benefits that could be achieved by complying with the government mandates.
"We chose SeeBeyond for its tremendous experience in the healthcare industry along with its ability to provide business process optimization benefits on top of assisting our efforts toward HIPAA compliance," said Bill Spooner, senior vice president and CIO of Sharp HealthCare. "With our aggressive schedule to meet HIPAA mandates, we felt strongly that the SeeBeyond platform could be deployed rapidly and effectively across the entire organization, in turn providing additional value through resulting operational efficiencies which can result in significant cost savings over the next five years."
SeeBeyond has been a recognized leader in providing integration solutions to healthcare organizations for more than a decade, and in October 2002, introduced the SeeBeyond HIPAA Solution Set to provide customers with HIPAA-specific pre-configured software components, a best practice integration architecture, and a SeeBeyond Implementation Guide. Assisting customers efforts in meeting the HIPAA compliance deadline on time and on budget, customers often deploy the SeeBeyond solution and quickly realize they take advantage of greater returns on the initial investment by leveraging the complete SeeBeyond suite of solutions.
"We are proud to have been selected by Sharp HealthCare to help meet its initial mission-critical requirements of HIPAA compliance, but also because we believe that the benefits of the long-term rollout of the SeeBeyond platform will bring positive operational and financial results that will have a far-reaching effect on the entire organization," said Scott Harper, vice president of Healthcare for SeeBeyond.
