TUSTIN, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 2003

Coalsere(TM) Inc., innovative developer of networked storage infrastructure software, today announced a sneak preview of their first product, nsAccelera(TM).

The preview will be in the ISV showcase during the Sun Microsystems' Data Center Summit IX, as part of their launch for N1 and the new Sun Fire(TM) Blade Platform. nsAccelera is a middleware solution that significantly increases application performance, I/O throughput, and the utilization of servers, network and storage resources without requiring additional hardware.

In working early on with Sun as part of its partner program, Coalsere has sustained an average improvement of 300% in I/O performance of applications while reducing back-end storage-related network traffic by more than 20% with the new Sun Fire Blade Platform.

nsAccelera installs on servers in minutes with virtually no risk to business continuity and almost immediately provides improved application performance, capacity and nearly limitless, fault resilient scalability.

The software creates Storage Coalitions(TM) that intelligently integrate, share, and manage underutilized server and networked storage resources as part of a network wide distributed cache. The nsAccelera cache can be created across a heterogeneous network of Solaris, Windows NT and Windows 2000 systems that are using NFS, or CIFS file services for storing data over the network.

It is well suited for a wide variety of applications. For example, Web content serving, electronic design and automation, life sciences modeling and simulation and data warehousing.

"We're excited about our opportunity to preview our first product on the new Sun Fire Blade Platform at such an exclusive event for Sun's iForce(SM) and Blades Solutions Community partners," said Scott Ruple, CEO and president of Coalsere. "Our distributed cache dovetails seamlessly with Sun's approach to high density distributed computing.

"The growing ratio of compute engines to networked storage appliances makes the blade server market one of our key targets, and our software is a compelling solution to bear on this emerging market."

"Having Coalsere as one of our partners is important because it helps us to ensure we're continuously delivering the best-in-class and most flexible solutions for our customers," said Carla Dimond, group manager, Market Development Organization, at Sun Microsystems Inc.

"Sun and Coalsere are working together to deliver the vision of unifying compute, network and storage resources to provide increased utilization, capacity and performance for just in time computing."

nsAccelera is a software only solution that is based on Coalsere's proprietary, DIFS(TM) (Distributed Intelligence For Storage) architecture, the core to providing the higher performance, better utilization, increased fault resilience, increased infrastructure efficiency and improved ROIs on hardware investments.

The unique design enables the software to extend the performance and ROI of application servers, as well as other appliances on the network. Contact Coalsere at info@coalsere.com for information on pricing and availability.
