NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 2003

Tier 1 Service Providers Gain from an Expanded Process Centric

Infrastructure

Staffware, a market leader in business process management (BPM), today announces version 2.0 of the OSS Process Framework.

Staffware broadens the Framework to meet the emerging 3G and Broadband markets, with the associated need to manage relationships across a network of content providers. In addition, the hierarchical process architecture is supplemented with XML, Web Services and Rules Engine technology to provide a more comprehensive solution for the management of orders within a major operator.

Keith Willetts, Chairman of the TeleManagement Forum, comments: "Operators are increasingly under pressure to dramatically improve their operating costs, lead times and business flexibility. This is particularly true of their order management processes. A guiding principle behind TMF's New Generation OSS framework, now being adopted by many operators, is to dramatically improve business responsiveness by separating processes and data. Sophisticated Business Process Management technology offers a powerful approach to achieving that goal."

Already the Framework has generated significant interest through providing a platform for Complex Order Management, a topic of great interest across the service provider community as they position to meet the imminent demands of 3G mobile, broadband and content provisioning. The foundation of the Framework, the Staffware iProcess Engine, is the most scalable and functionally rich BPM product in the market, supporting challenging environments at providers such as BT and Singtel Optus.

"Staffware continues to be committed to the advancement of Telecommunications infrastructure needed to support emerging standards and service level demands," said Kuljit Bawa, CEO Americas at Staffware. "Our Process Centric Infrastructure is suited to meet the needs of Complex Order Management and other process-based applications that lack the support by current legacy based frameworks used by service providers. As demands for better services increase, Staffware is poised to provide critical Business Process Management solutions vital to making a difference."

In response to numerous requirements from service providers across the world, the new Framework extends both the library of ready-to-deploy business process definitions and the capabilities of the associated product and service meta-model. The architecture of the Framework supports a hierarchy of inter-communicating process components. The exact structure of the process flow only needs to be determined at run-time (typically when the customer contacts the organization), when the appropriate process components for this particular service request are joined together to precisely manage the needs of this customer. The Framework seamlessly knits together the front and back office systems with complete flexibility for each individual customer demand.
