Civic Tour & TRL Present New Found Glory and Good Charlotte; Third Annual Civic Tour Set to Hit the Road in Grand Forks, ND on April 8

Business Wire, Feb 25, 2003

VENICE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 2003

American Honda Motor Co., Inc.'s Civic Tour and MTV's "TRL" today announced they have teamed up to send rockers New Found Glory and Good Charlotte on the road. The 2003 tour will launch on April 8 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, ND, setting the stage for the highly anticipated 50+ date trek. Building on the success of past Civic Tours, Civic Tour and TRL are both proud to present New Found Glory and Good Charlotte, leaders in the new wave of neo-punk music that has taken over radio airwaves.

"We're stoked to be co-headlining with our friends Good Charlotte -- it's cool that fans get the chance to see two bands for the price of one and get an opportunity to win the Civic Si's we've tricked out," said Jordan Pundik (vocals) of New Found Glory.

Fans can log-on to civictour.com beginning February 25 at noon PST, for the opportunity to buy tickets before they go on sale to the general public. Civictour.com will serve as the hub for all things New Found Glory, Good Charlotte and Civic Tour including concert information, tour schedule, exclusive media, and much more. Two of the 12 customized Civic Si's will be given away on the site, one uniquely designed by New Found Glory and the other by Good Charlotte.

"Although last year's successful Civic Tour with Incubus will be a tough act to follow, we know that New Found Glory and Good Charlotte will pack the venues with their fervent fans from coast to coast. Having two headlining bands allows Honda to help give fans more value for their money," said Charles Koch, manager of regional marketing at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "We are excited to continue bringing bands closer to their fans through the signature Civic Tour customized Civic car giveaways, media promotions and, of course, memorable live performances."

Hailing from South Florida, New Found Glory found success in the unique new sound of the pop-punk movement they helped ignite last year. Renowned for their energetic live shows, Cyrus Bolooki (drums), Chad Gilbert (guitar), Ian Grushka (bass), Steve Klein (guitar) and Jordan Pundik (vocals), have rocked the mainstage of the Vans Warped Tour for three years and their self-titled label debut is certified gold. Their most current album, "Sticks and Stones" (MCA, 2002), is also certified gold and showcases their aggressive yet melodic style, featuring hit songs "My Friend's Over You" and "Head On Collision."

Fellow Warped Tour vets Good Charlotte have climbed the charts quickly, but surely not effortlessly. Founded by twin brothers Joel (vocals) and Benji (guitar) Madden in 1997, Good Charlotte built a strong fanbase through extensive touring and their vigorous sound. The band signed with Epic records in 2000, with their self-titled debut selling more than one million copies and their current release, "The Young and The Hopeless" (Epic, 2002), is flying off the shelves. The Madden brothers, along with band members Paul Thomas (bass) and Billy Martin (guitar), have become regular guests on MTV's TRL, which often features the video for their infectious hit, "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous."

Civic Tour is a unique promotion where music fans can catch their favorite acts at a great low-ticket price and have chances at winning new customized Honda Civic Si's, designed and autographed by the Civic Tour bands. Created and produced by Marketing Factory, Inc., Civic Tour is bringing the Honda Civic closer to youthful, contemporary drivers, while offering music fans their favorite bands. Two customized Civic Si's (one by New Found Glory and one by Good Charlotte) will tour the country on display at all Civic Tour concerts before they are awarded to two lucky fans through a national online promotion at civictour.com, which begins on March 27. A total of 12 customized Civic Si's will be awarded through ten media promotions (TBA).

Included in this year's customized Si's is a state-of-the-art mobile multimedia system from Alpine Electronics, featuring satellite-linked navigation, DVD entertainment, XM Satellite Radio and premium audio components. Also new to the Tour will be the traveling Civic Tour Non-Stop Music Lounge presented by Alpine, showcasing both of the customized Si's featuring the extensive sound systems, and a kick-back lounge with more surprises to be announced.

Rounding out the bill will be Less Than Jake and MxPx taking turns in the opening slot with a fourth band in each city (TBA). The first leg of the Civic Tour featuring New Found Glory and Good Charlotte is scheduled to visit the following cities (dates and venues subject to change). Tickets for the first leg of the Tour will go on sale February 28, with the second leg of the Tour going on sale March 1 through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com).
