BOTHELL, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 2003
Compact, Versatile AT-8024M and AT-8016F switches offer dual
expansion bays to support 100FX, fiber Gigabit, copper Gigabit and
stacking modules at unparalleled price point
Allied Telesyn, Inc. (www.alliedtelesyn.com), a world leader in network technologies for the access edge, today unveiled two new members of its 8000 series of Layer 2 managed stackable switches, the AT-8024M and AT-8016F.
The most flexible switches in the family, the 10/100TX AT-8024M and the 100FX AT-8016F are excellent choices for copper and fiber networks that need reliable, cost effective Fast Ethernet Layer 2 switches with a variety of uplink options. K-12, higher education and enterprise networks of all sizes can benefit from the AT-8024M and AT-8016F.
The AT-8024M and AT-8016F are ideal for evolving networks because of their flexibility. The AT-8024M, with 24 10/100TX ports, and the AT-8016F, with 16 100FX ports, are both equipped with two expansion bays. Each expansion bay can be populated with stacking, 100FX, 1000SX, 1000LX or tri-speed copper Gigabit modules. Offering a Redundant Power Supply option, the AT-8024M and AT-8016F are suitable for mission critical applications.
"The 8024M and 8016F perfectly blend standards-based connectivity with rich functionality and media flexibility," says James Mustarde, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Allied Telesyn. "Product capability and value differentiation are critical in a market saturated with me-too products and these switches clearly demonstrate our ability to deliver on both counts."
The AT-8024M and AT-8016F join three other switches in the AT-8000 series of scalable Layer 2 switches. Designed to help businesses of all sizes, education institutions and service providers build world-class networks, the AT-8000 switches provide exceptional performance, ease of use and flexibility at an affordable price. Price per port on the AT-8024, AT-8024GB, AT-8026FC, AT-8016F and AT-8024M is the most competitive in the industry while the switches still offer a robust feature set.
The AT-8024M and AT-8016F, like the rest of the AT-8000 switches, house a 9.6Gbps switch fabric that generates a powerful throughput of up to 6.5Mpps on all ports connected to the LAN and delivers true wirespeed performance. Available in a compact, 1 RU form factor, all AT-8000 switches can be rack- or wall-mounted. Designed to switch heavy multicast and broadcast traffic effortlessly, the AT-8000 series supports an 800K multicast or broadcast packet replication rate, 50K multicast packet forwarding rate and up to 10 IGMP leaves and joins per second.
Common features across all AT-8000 switches include high security standards such as RADIUS, TACACS and IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging as well as high performance standards such as IEEE 802.1w Rapid Spanning Tree, IEEE 802.1p Prioritization, IGMP Snooping, IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation and more. Management features include Command Line Interface, Web Interface, SNMP and Telnet.
Embedded in the AT-8000 switch series is Enhanced Stacking(TM), a revolutionary technology from Allied Telesyn that allows up to 24 switches, placed in multiple locations, to be managed with a single IP address. With Enhanced Stacking(TM) any combination of AT-8000 switches -- up to 576 10/100TX ports and up to 48 Gigabit ports -- can be managed simultaneously, thus simplifying network management. Enhanced Stacking(TM) eliminates the need for switches to be located near each other or connected with expensive stacking modules because the stacking functionality is housed in the software. The technology also protects network traffic during switch failures because the control point for Enhanced Stacking(TM) traffic is in the software instead of the hardware. Alternatively, the AT-8000 series supports traditional stacking by using low-cost stacking modules.
