Host Integration Leader Will Help Drive Web Services
Interoperability for Customers Deploying Legacy Applications
NetManage, Inc. (Nasdaq:NETME), experts in host access and integration solutions, today announced it has become a member of the Web Services Interoperability Organization (WS-I) (http://www.ws-i.org). WS-I is an open industry organization committed to promoting consistent and reliable interoperability among Web services across platforms, applications and programming languages. This announcement further demonstrates NetManage's commitment to support multi-platform technologies that will enable customers to deploy legacy applications as Web services. NetManage brings years of experience helping organizations use open-standard technologies to unlock value from existing legacy systems. In addition, the Company will provide useful insights into the interoperability issues associated with host integration.
NetManage's server-based host integration solution, OnWeb(R), facilitates the development of Web services that require data or business logic from existing host applications. The Company was cited in a recent META Group industry report as one of the top five vendors in the Web-to-Host market, poised to help customers externalize legacy applications via Web services. (Source: META Group, Inc., METAspectrumSM Evaluation of Web-to-Host Tool Market, 12/4/02).
"As we look to the real future of Web services technology, it is clear that vendor collaboration is the key to addressing interoperability issues," said Zvi Alon, president, chairman and CEO of NetManage. "Through our work with WS-I, NetManage will help accelerate the adoption of Web services standards. We are already providing our customers with the ability to unlock maximum business value from their legacy systems, and we know they are now relying on us to help them realize the benefits of a connected enterprise."
Web services represent the next step in the evolution of component architectures, taking applications beyond the enterprise and providing greater platform independence and improved integration capabilities. Host systems house mission critical business data and processes that organizations need to share and leverage. NetManage delivers the standards-based Web services solutions to access and re-purpose host application processes. Through its native support for underlying Web services standards, OnWeb addresses the key issue of interoperability. It also allows customers to quickly and cost-effectively create Web services for legacy applications and integrate them across both internal and external applications.
"We're very pleased that NetManage has joined our organization," said Tom Glover, chairman of WS-I. "We look forward to leveraging their expertise to provide companies with the resources and implementation guidance necessary for creating interoperable Web services."
