SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 2003

JDA(R) Software Group Inc. announced that LifeWay Christian Stores, the world's second largest Christian retailer of bibles, books, gifts, music and other religious products is successfully using several JDA Portfolio(R) applications to sustain its growth and market stronghold in more than 20 states. According to Eric Glover, vice president of business operations for LifeWay Christian Stores, JDA's integrated corporate headquarters, store, planning and business intelligence applications provide a sound infrastructure for achieving dramatic improvements.

"We've enhanced operational efficiencies and our decision making by increasing visibility throughout the entire retail process," explained Glover. "We expect to fully recover our technology investment within the next few years by growing sales, improving margins, reducing inventories, and increasing productivity and efficiency."

The retailer is licensed to use Merchandise Management System-i(TM) (MMS(R)), Win/DSS(R) in-store system, Merchandise Planning by Arthur(TM) and Performance Analysis by IDEAS(TM).

JDA Portfolio Enables Best-of-Breed Functionality

With the integrated Portfolio solutions in use for approximately nine months, LifeWay Christian Stores is impressed with the results thus far. "Since implementing Win/DSS, we have reduced check-out time and achieved other time savings at the point of service. For instance, we've reduced credit card clearing time from 20 seconds to two seconds or less during peak times thanks to Win/DSS interfacing with AJB Software's Retail Transaction Switch," stated Glover.

MMS is also living up to its best-of-breed reputation. "MMS is head and shoulders above the competition and we are excited about implementing Arthur Planning. By combining MMS with Arthur Planning's state-of-the-art planning environment, we anticipate significant improvements in merchandise management performance," added Glover who led the successful implementation of JDA applications with the philosophy of changing processes not the system.

"We are pleased to welcome LifeWay Christian Stores to the growing list of JDA clients who have implemented and are efficiently operating their business using JDA Portfolio applications. We attribute LifeWay Christian Stores' achievements to exceptional executive leadership and enthusiastic users who were committed to the JDA partnership," stated David Tidmarsh, JDA's senior vice president of client services.

"From pre-selection to post implementation, JDA associates have been extremely professional, highly skilled and responsive to our unique business needs. Our choice of JDA as a strategic business partner was a wise one," Glover concluded.

LifeWay Christian Stores plans to go live with IDEAS and Arthur in early 2003.
