NANUET, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 17, 2003

Vemics, an emerging leader in distance learning, today signed an agreement with Wire One that establishes Wire One's Glowpoint(SM), the first IP-based subscriber network dedicated to video communications, as the network of choice for users of Vemics' distance learning solution.

The only IP network dedicated exclusively to carrying video traffic, Glowpoint achieves last mile connectivity through a variety of solutions, including DSL. Vemics' agreement with Wire One promises to improve the quality, reliability and functionality of distance learning for Vemics users. An initial sale of Glowpoint circuits through the agreement has already been made to Seton Worldwide, the distance learning arm of Seton Hall University, which is working with Vemics to deliver continuing education and specialized training programs to corporations in the insurance, health care and financial services industries.

Vemics has redefined the traditional distance learning distribution model by enabling live, fully interactive instructor-led courses to be delivered electronically to businesses or other learning locations worldwide. Vemics' unique e-classroom platform adds live presence and fully interactive student/teacher collaboration functionality that goes well beyond existing web-based services. Video conferences carried by Glowpoint will be an integral part of this process.

"The combination of Vemics e-classroom technology and Wire One's award-winning Glowpoint network is a logical fit," said Michael Brandofino, chief technology officer of Wire One. "Vemics is an ideal partner for Wire One, based on our shared belief that customers deserve an easier-to-use, more reliable and cost-effective video communications experience than is possible through the use of ISDN."

In conjunction with its agreement with Wire One, Vemics has added enhancements to its product that supports Glowpoint's VPN access and security protocols.

As part of the agreement, Vemics will install a server on Wire One's Glowpoint network, providing customers and prospects with easy access to Vemics distance learning applications. In addition, Vemics and Wire One will collaborate on new business opportunities, joint marketing initiatives and customer support services.

"Wire One's Glowpoint network is the ideal complement to Vemics' virtual classroom technology, providing the quality of service, functionality and reliability that customers of our distance learning solutions require," said Fred Zolla, CEO of Vemics. "Glowpoint's technology helps Vemics deliver a truly unique distance learning experience by replicating the live presence of actual instructor-led programs."
