Open Text Further Extends Its Market Leadership in Life Sciences
Open Text(TM) Corporation (Nasdaq:OTEX) (TSX:OTC), provider of Livelink(R), the leading collaboration and knowledge management software for the global enterprise, today announced that Chiron Corporation, a global biopharmaceutical company, has selected Livelink as its enterprise wide solution for managing documents critical to the company's product development, manufacturing, and quality operations.
Following an evaluation of several solutions, Chiron has selected Livelink to replace its existing systems and to provide a single platform for document management. Chiron will be replacing its legacy systems with Livelink, effectively making Livelink its global standard to meet Chiron's regulatory and controlled document needs throughout its locations in North America and Europe.
"Chiron chose Open Text's Livelink solution because of its alignment with our IT architecture strategy," said Meghan Leader, Chiron's Chief Information Officer. "Its Web-based, open architecture and core functionality, as well as its intuitive user interface, were differentiators for us."
In order to achieve new product launches, Chiron must have processes in place to quickly, efficiently and effectively manage the vast numbers of documents currently generated as part of the approval processes for regulatory agencies around the world. Using Livelink, Chiron will be able to manage these paper processes electronically. Livelink also provides online auditing functionality for tracking information, permissions and approvals throughout the product development, regulatory approval and marketing stages.
Chiron will also use Livelink to manage its standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes and quality operations. Maintaining SOPs in a Web-based solution ensures that Chiron employees have access to the same up-to-date, critical information across the enterprise.
"Open Text is committed to fulfilling the complex needs and compliance requirements faced by its customers in regulated industries," said Martin Sumner-Smith, Vice President of Pharmaceutical Solutions, Open Text. "Using Livelink to promote productivity, streamline processes and provide a global standard for managing critical research and development information will enable Chiron to focus on what it does best-product-oriented research, rapid product development, superior manufacturing and commercial strategies for preventing and treating human disease."
