MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 2003

Topspin Communications announced today that it has received Strategic Research Corporation's Server I/O award for Emerging Company of the Year in I/O technology.

Topspin, the leader in switched computing, builds a programmable switching platform that allows data center managers to create virtual computers out of industry-standard server, storage, and networking building blocks.

The award was presented at a luncheon during this week's annual Server I/O conference and tradeshow, held at the Monterey Convention Center in Monterey, California. Topspin's products were showcased in its booth at the conference January 20-21.

"We are honored to receive this award," said Stu Aaron, vice president of marketing and business development at Topspin. "It represents a significant milestone for us as we execute on our plan to deliver switched computing solutions into the enterprise data center."

Last week, Topspin introduced the newest product in its lineup, the Topspin 90 Switched Computing System, a 1U entry-level, intelligent InfiniBand switch with built-in expansion capabilities.

The Topspin 90 joins the flagship Topspin 360 in the industry's most complete switched computing solution, which includes integrated Ethernet and Fibre Channel gateways, a 10Gbps HCA with a full suite of upper-layer protocols, and an embedded management suite.

"Our Server I/O conference is the only forum that brings together the thought leaders in the datacenter infrastructure industries to develop a unifying vision of the future," said Michael Peterson, president of Strategic Research Corporation. "Over the past few years, recipients of the Server I/O awards have made significant contributions to their respective industries, and I am confident that Topspin will carry on this tradition. We look forward to tracking the success of Topspin as they continue to make great strides with their switched computing system."

Within the Switched Computing family, customers can choose the solution with the right combination of price, performance, and flexibility allowing them to scale seamlessly as their business needs change.

About the Server I/O Awards Program
