Packaging in Three Technical Paper Sessions

Fairchild Semiconductor International (NYSE: FCS) will unveil its new Switch Fabric Interconnect (SFI) product and exhibit its latest offerings in LVDS, high-speed optocouplers and LEDs/LED driver ICs at DesignCon 2003, to be held January 27th-30th at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Company representatives will be on hand at Booth 417 to answer questions about these technologies and to demonstrate how Fairchild products respond to the latest industry trends requiring space- and power-efficient designs. In addition, Fairchild will participate in three technical paper presentations highlighting the company's technology solutions in cutting-edge design engineering applications.

Products to be Exhibited by Fairchild (Booth 417):

-- New Switch Fabric Interconnect (SFI) Device -- the FIN7216-01, Fairchild's first PHY, is a new quad-channel transceiver targeted for proprietary backplane applications or as a Fibre Channel or Gigabit Ethernet transceiver;

-- LVDS Products -- Fairchild will exhibit its large portfolio of LVDS devices, including the industry's first multi-port repeaters and several reduced-size package options for point-to-point configurations in telecom, datacom, peripherals and displays;

-- Analog Switches -- Fairchild will offer its broad array of single and dual switches for video and LAN applications, including the first analog switches to offer -2V undershoot protection;

-- High-Speed Optocouplers -- The newest products in Fairchild's expanding portfolio of high-speed, high-performance optocouplers offer superior common-mode rejection (up to 15kV/us) to eliminate data corruption in noisy environments.

-- LEDs/LED Driver IC Complementary Solutions -- with its growing family of tightly matched (binned) LEDs, in conjunction with its complementary LED driver ICs, Fairchild offers the industry's widest range of solutions for matching and brightness control for portable applications.

Fairchild will also present three technical papers:

-- January 28, 3:00-3:50 p.m. -- "Understanding the Changing

World of Backplanes," Michael Fowler, principal product

strategist;

-- January 29, 8:30-9:20 a.m. -- "Migrating to New IC Package

Designs and Their Effects on Signal Integrity," Sean Clark,

senior applications engineer; and

-- January 29, 2:00-2:50 p.m. -- "How To Apply Serializer and

Deserializer (SERDES) Performance To Your Design," Edmund

Suckow, SERDES application engineer.
