SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 27, 2003
Pumatech, Inc. (NASDAQ:PUMA), a leading provider of synchronization software, developer tools and services, is introducing its new MobileXtension(R) for Lotus Notes software at this week's Lotusphere 2003 event in Orlando, Fla., Jan. 27-29, 2003. MobileXtension, a plug-in for Pumatech's Satellite Forms(R) MobileApp Designer and Enterprise Intellisync(R) Server software, extends Lotus Domino and Notes data to Palm OS(R) and Pocket PC 2002 handhelds.
MobileXtension is an important complement to Satellite Forms MobileApp Designer software, Pumatech's popular visual rapid application development environment for Palm OS and Pocket PC 2002 handhelds. MobileXtension allows developers to import custom forms from Lotus Notes documents directly into Satellite Forms, and to easily generate mobile applications that integrate seamlessly with Domino and Notes. MobileXtension also works with Pumatech's Enterprise Intellisync Server software to enable direct synchronization between Satellite Forms applications and Notes/Domino databases.
Pumatech will demonstrate its MobileXtension, Satellite Forms and Enterprise Intellisync solutions in the "Product Showcase" section of Lotusphere 2003 (Pedestal No. 635) at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel in Orlando.
"The combination of MobileXtension, Satellite Forms and Enterprise Intellisync Server provides immediate ROI for companies that have custom data residing in Lotus Domino and Notes," explained Pumatech's Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Clyde Foster. "For example, many companies have field service or sales personnel who rely on Domino/Notes-based data to do their jobs every day. Traditionally, these workers capture information manually, and the information is re-entered into Domino or Notes by someone else later on. This is a slow, inefficient and costly process. With our new MobileXtension plug-in, companies can quickly import the structure of any custom Domino/Notes database directly into our Satellite Forms mobile-application development software. Satellite Forms lets them rapidly create forms-based applications for Palm OS or Pocket PC handhelds that map precisely to the Domino/Notes data. Field-based workers can enter data electronically and leverage Enterprise Intellisync Server to connect to Domino or Notes wirelessly, over a LAN, or via desktop, cradle-based connectivity. The result is dramatically improved productivity, and the virtual elimination of data-entry errors."
Pricing for MobileXtension for Lotus Notes begins at $55 per licensed user (minimum quantity is 10 users). ABOUT SATELLITE FORMS MOBILEAPP DESIGNER
Pumatech's Satellite Forms MobileApp Designer software is the premier visual rapid application development (RAD) tool for devices based on the Palm OS and Pocket PC 2002 platforms. Satellite Forms enables software developers to extend custom enterprise applications to handheld computers, and to seamlessly integrate these handheld solutions with enterprise data from Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and many other ODBC-compliant data sources. Satellite Forms' built-in App Designer lets users quickly create powerful handheld applications without needing any knowledge of programming, simply by dragging and dropping Satellite Forms controls. Satellite Forms works with Enterprise Intellisync Server to enable multiple secure device connections via wireless and direct network cradle connectivity, as well as through device cradle sync.
ABOUT ENTERPRISE INTELLISYNC SERVER
Enterprise Intellisync Server software from Pumatech provides organizations with a single resource for synchronizing PIM (personal information management) and custom database information between servers and mobile devices, wirelessly or through desktop PC synchronization cradles - and for managing handheld software and devices from one centralized location. Enterprise Intellisync Server includes Pumatech's award-winning Intellisync(R) engine for LAN-based and remote synchronization of email, calendar, contacts, and tasks between Palm OS and Pocket PC handhelds and such PC-based applications as Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes. Enterprise Intellisync Server also facilitates local and remote synchronization between custom handheld applications created with Pumatech's Satellite Forms MobileApp Designer software (sold separately) and back-end databases, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and other ODBC-compliant data sources.
