SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 27, 2003
MarketWatch.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:MKTW), a leading multimedia source of financial news and information, today announced that its flagship financial Web site, CBS MarketWatch, is expanding its mutual fund coverage with the addition of two highly respected financial writers.
Widely syndicated award-winning personal finance columnist Charles A. Jaffe, of the Boston Globe, and award-winning mutual funds writer and author Jonathan Burton have joined the Company's personal finance team.
Jaffe will be a CBS MarketWatch contributing columnist, providing three columns a week for CBS MarketWatch, in addition to audio and video analysis of breaking news affecting personal finance or the fund industry.
Jonathan Burton has signed on as mutual funds editor, responsible for CBS MarketWatch's popular FundWatch and Mutual Understanding columns, as well as editing its Mutual Funds Weekly newsletter. He replaces Craig Tolliver, who will now edit the site's growing Newsletters & Research channel.
"Chuck and Jonathan will further fortify our already impressive CBS MarketWatch personal finance team," said David Callaway, executive editor at CBS MarketWatch. "Over the next year we plan to dramatically grow our funds coverage, serving the more than 95 million people nationwide who have a stake in mutual funds. Chuck and Jonathan will augment the insightful analysis provided by our popular columnist Paul Farrell."
Charles A. Jaffe's mutual fund columns are syndicated in more than 50 newspapers nationwide. He is the president of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW), a regular guest on public television's Nightly Business Report, and the author of two personal finance books, including "Chuck Jaffe's Lifetime Guide to Mutual Funds: An Owner's Manual."
Jonathan Burton has written extensively about investing for publications such as Bloomberg Personal Finance, Mutual Funds magazine, and Investor's Business Daily, and is the author of the books "Investment Titans" and "Electronic Day Traders' Secrets."
Craig Tolliver, who as mutual funds editor helped build the mutual fund content channel, will now work to further expand the editorial content and subscription research products offered by CBS MarketWatch's Newsletters & Research channel. The channel was re-designed and launched earlier this month, and covers the world of investment newsletters, featuring columns by noted contributors Mark Hulbert and Peter Brimelow.
