Company to Feature Odyssey, Treo, and MXP 100 Digital Music Player
Lines At the MP3 and Internet Audio Pavilion, Booth #31173
e.Digital Corp. (OTCBB:EDIG) today announced that the launch of its Odyssey(TM) 1000 portable digital audio player will take place at the 2003 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas January 9-12.
The company will feature its lineup of flash-based and hard drive-based digital audio players including the Treo 15, MXP 100, Odyssey 100, Odyssey 200, Odyssey 300, and the much-anticipated new Odyssey 1000 digital audio player.
The Odyssey 1000 is e.Digital's sophisticated new portable jukebox, with a 20 GB hard drive, USB 2.0 for high-speed downloading, and e.Digital's unique VoiceNav(TM) technology, which will recognize the spoken name of an artist or track -- without training -- letting consumers just "Say It to Play It." It also has an easy-to-use scroll wheel for effortless manual navigation.
The Odyssey 1000 has a download speed of up to 8 megabytes per second using USB 2.0. It is recognized by PCs as a mass storage device and acts as a portable hard drive for storing and transporting movies, spreadsheets, pictures, and more. Even large stored files can be played or run directly from the Odyssey 1000's hard drive when connected to a PC via the provided USB 2.0 cable.
Developed with SRS Labs' WOW(TM) audio enhancement technology for a 3-D listening experience and rich bass, the Odyssey 1000 delivers superb audio quality whether you are playing music through the included collapsible stereo headphones, or connected to your home stereo system (home stereo adaptor cable also included).
Based on e.Digital's MicroOS(TM) technology, the Odyssey 1000 plays both MP3 and Windows Media(TM) audio files and features an FM tuner and a digital voice recorder with built-in microphone. A built-in rechargeable Li-Ion battery delivers up to 12 hours of playback time and charges in under 4 hours with the included power cable. Built for use on the go, a carrying case with belt clip rounds out the accessories for the Odyssey 1000. The Odyssey 1000 is scheduled to begin shipping to consumers February 5, with a suggested retail price of $349.
The Treo 15 portable digital jukebox is a hard drive-based MP3 and Windows Media(TM) audio player, with 15 GB of music and data storage capacity built in. Treo puts a lifetime of music in your pocket and acts as a portable hard drive where you can store and transport pictures, spreadsheets, games, or any other type of data files. Standard accessories for Treo 15 include a rechargeable battery, carrying case with belt clip, stereo earbuds, and a home stereo adaptor cable. The Treo 15, also based on e.Digital's MicroOS technology, sells for $189.
The MXP 100 digital audio player uses removable CompactFlash(TM) or IBM Microdrive(TM) as its storage media. It features e.Digital's unique VoiceNav(TM) technology, which will, without training, recognize the spoken name of an artist or track, letting consumers just "Say It to Play It." The MXP 100, based on e.Digital's MicroOS technology, plays MP3 and Windows Media(TM) audio files and features a digital voice recorder with built-in microphone. With its variable storage capacity up to 1 GB, the MXP 100 retails from $99 to $229.
The 64 MB flash-based Odyssey 100 features battery life of up to 30 hours from a single AA alkaline battery. The Odyssey 200 features 128 MB of embedded flash memory and a built-in FM tuner and digital voice recorder. The Odyssey 300 features 128 MB of embedded flash memory, a built-in FM tuner and recorder, a digital voice recorder, and direct MP3 encoding from virtually any audio source. The flash-based Odyssey MP3 players all include a SmartMedia(TM) Card expansion slot and are PC and Mac compatible. Retail prices range from $99 to $229 depending on features and accessories.
Also on display will be the Silhouette MP3 CD player. Like the Odyssey 1000, the Silhouette also features SRS Labs' WOW audio enhancement technology, and plays MP3 and Windows Media(TM) audio files from CDs that consumers burn themselves at home.
All of e.Digital's audio players include a free subscription to WeDigMusic.com, e.Digital's Internet music site with unlimited downloads of royalty-free independent artist content. Most models come with free, factory-loaded, unlimited-use music. To get a live, hands-on demonstration of e.Digital's complete digital audio player product lines, visit e.Digital at Booth #31173 at the Las Vegas Convention Center's South Hall.
e.Digital's consumer products, OEM technologies, product platforms, and/or reference designs are also scheduled to be shown in various booths, technology suites, and private meeting rooms of its partners and associates including SRS Labs and Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten, the Audiobook Pavilion, and the Microsoft Windows Media Device Showcase.
Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten has been awarded a CES Innovations Award in the Mobile Electronics category for their HD1213 Hi-fidelity 20-Gigabyte MP-3/WMA Player/recorder. This product, developed with e.Digital, is scheduled to go into production this quarter. Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten is expected to provide more details about the HD1213 during the show.
