ThinSoft's New WinConnect Server XP Software Takes Full Advantage of the Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor with Hyper-Threading Technology
THINSOFT (USA) Inc.'s ('ThinSoft') WinConnect Server XP software will be demonstrated today at the 2003 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) during Intel CEO Craig Barrett's keynote speech.
During the keynote speech, Intel will highlight the future of technology in the home and how the Pentium(R) 4 Processor with Hyper-Threading Technology is a key driver of the digital home. Using ThinSoft's WinConnect Server XP software, which allows up to 21 simultaneous users to access the PC, multiple devices can now be connected to the PC and used by the entire family.
Concentrating the computer resources in a single powerful computer provides the consumer with increased control over their home devices as well as substantial cost savings and reduced maintenance. Thin client devices can then distribute access to the computer throughout the home or business.
These Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) enabled thin client devices run Windows(R) applications. The thin client devices include Smart Display devices, terminals, internet/information appliances and PDAs. While the user accesses the applications with these thin client devices, the processing is actually done on the powerful central processor. This technology has been optimized to take advantage of the advanced capabilities of the Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading Technology.
ThinSoft Vice President Bradley Justice said: ``The capabilities of the Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading Technology make it an ideal platform for an application server.
``When combined with our WinConnect Server technology it provides a simple and cost effective means to distribute Windows applications throughout a networked environment."
"Intel's Hyper-Threading Technology brings increased capabilities to the PC through its unique multitasking capabilities. Innovative software products like WinConnect Server can tap this multitasking capability bringing greater flexibility and benefit to the consumer in the home," said David Bullitt, desktop marketing manager for Intel.
