BAD HOMBURG, Germany & CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 18, 2003
Bitstream Inc. (Nasdaq:BITS) and Linotype Library GmbH today announced that Linotype has officially approved the Bitstream versions of many Linotype typefaces, including such well-known standards as Linotype's Frutiger(TM)(a), Helvetica(TM)(a), Times(TM)(a), and Univers(TM)(a), among others.
Many of today's most widely used typefaces originate from the Linotype Library, one of the most extensive font libraries in the world. Customers across the globe have licensed fonts from Linotype, well known for producing, marketing, and licensing high-quality fonts. Contributions from many contemporary typeface designers continue to make the Linotype Library the center of traditional and innovative modern typeface design. The Linotype Library has clearly left its mark on international print design.
"Linotype's endorsement of Bitstream's versions of their designs opens a new era of cooperation between Bitstream and Linotype," stated Anna Chagnon, president of Bitstream. "As one of the most respected international font foundries, Linotype has a long history of encouraging high-quality typeface design. We are honored to receive their endorsement and enter into a truly strategic partnership with this world-renowned company."
"Linotype, known worldwide as the 'Source of Originals,' will always provide and guarantee to sales partners and customers the 'what-you-see-is-what-you-get' principle. Last but not least, correct font licensing is one of our highest demands and company values. Our latest cooperation with Bitstream will emphasize our strategy and encourage others to follow our example," said Bruno Steinert, managing director of Linotype Library GmbH.
