LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 2003

Millions of North American viewers are enjoying almost three hours of live daily coverage of this year's centennial Le Tour de France via Intelsat's video network. The Outdoor Life Television Network (OLN), the rights holder for Le Tour de France, began broadcast of the event at its 4 July onset, and will continue to transmit coverage using Intelsat until the completion of the race on 27 July.

Using mounted motorcycle cameras and a transportable SNG (mobile satellite uplink) contracted from Kingston inmedia to follow the riders in France, Intelsat is providing and managing the entire transmission of the race content live from the antenna to its satellite located at 335 degrees E, and backhauling it to the Outdoor Life Network's studios in the U.S. for broadcast.

"For the OLN to successfully provide live daily coverage we needed an operator with a reputation for offering the best transmissions, easy booking and high quality customer service," said Peter Sumpf, OLN Vice President of Network Operations. "The OLN is committed to providing our viewers with the most engaging and exciting live coverage of Le Tour de France, and we needed a provider whose high-quality transmissions would add value to our broadcast."

"Providing live coverage of a huge sporting event like Le Tour de France, especially in its 100th year, certainly validates our worldwide reputation for being a well trusted, respected and reliable distributor of content," said Jon Romm, President, Intelsat Media & Entertainment Business Unit. "We have decades of experience doing this, having transmitted every Olympics since 1968, and know that OLN's trust in our capabilities is why they came directly to Intelsat."

Mike Walsh, Head of Sales at Kingston inmedia, said, "We're delighted to have been selected by Intelsat for this year's event. It demonstrates the strong relationship that our companies have and confirms Kingston as a major and trustworthy provider of satellite video services in Europe."
