MOORESTOWN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 2003

Iridian Technologies, the world leader in authentication technologies based on iris recognition, today announced the award of a scholarship to a graduating New Egypt High School student from Plumsted Township, NJ.

During the graduation ceremony held on June 24, 2003 student Steven Lewis, Jr. was recognized for both his academic excellence and his contributions to the community. In addition to his excellent academic record, Steven spent many hours working at New Egypt High School with a computer lab teacher, aiding the teacher with routing and networking projects. Ms. Lynn Pryzbylkowski was the teacher who nominated Steven for the award. Steven will use the scholarship to contribute to his continuing education at Stockton State College, where he intends to major in computer sciences.

In March 2003 New Egypt High School, Middle School and Elementary School all began using iris recognition to secure access to the schools and positively identify school employees as they entered the building. At the Elementary School, parents of elementary school children were also invited to enroll in an iris recognition application that can quickly establish their identity and confirm which child the parent was entitled to pick up from the school. Both programs were well received by school staff and parents, and the use of iris recognition garnered significant national media attention as a result.

"Iris recognition improves people's lives in many ways. Iridian's technology protects airports, hospitals, data centers, and now even schools," said C.B. Kuhla, CEO and President for Iridian Technologies. "We hope that Steven's scholarship encourages him to continue to use his skills to help others in the future."
