Disc Includes Many Special Guests Including Johnny Cash;

Enhanced Portion With Extensive Footage From The Recording Sessions

The final CD from the late June Carter Cash, "Wildwood Flower," is scheduled for release on Dualtone Records on Sept. 9, 2003. The disc is the follow up to Carter Cash's 1996, Grammy Award-winning "Press On" that has recently been re-issued on Dualtone Records. Completed just prior to her passing in May at 73, "Wildwood Flower" is a celebration of Carter Cash's Appalachian roots and the musical legacy of her renowned family. Featuring more than a dozen songs, many of which are Carter Family classics penned by June's uncle A.P. Carter, highlights include the first single "Keep On the Sunny Side," "Temptation," "Church in the Wildwood/Lonesome Valley" and "Anchored in Love." Wildwood Flower includes numerous special guests, vintage pieces from early radio broadcasts and an extensive enhanced portion featuring exclusive footage from the recording session.

"Wildwood Flower" was produced by June's son with Johnny Cash, John Carter Cash, mixed by Chuck Turner and recorded at several locations including Cash Cabin Studio, Hendersonville, Tenn.; The Carter family home in Mace's Springs, Virginia and in June and Johnny's bedroom at their home in Hendersonville, Tenn. Johnny Cash provides guest vocals on three tracks including "The Road to Kaintuck," one of June's original songs. Also joining June on the CD are Norman Blake, Nancy Blake, Carlene Carter, Marty Stuart and numerous members of the Carter clan.

"What an honor and privilege to be able to release such an amazing body of work, not to mention a part of American history," said Dualtone Records President Scott Robinson. "June's love for life and music is truly represented in `Wildwood Flower.' May the spirit of June Carter Cash live on forever."

In addition to the classic Carter Family songs and June's original tunes featured on "Wildwood Flower," the CD resonates with the artistic, historic and musical statement that June intended with the recording. Interspersed throughout the collection are snippets of old radio tapes from the 1940s when June, her two sisters and mother Maybelle Carter performed as a quartet. Also featured on the CD is a special bonus enhanced portion that includes extensive footage taken during the recording sessions. Segments include June telling stories about her childhood, the history of her family's land, the early days of her musical career, rehearsals with the other musicians and several bits that would be the last footage of her and Johnny recording and singing together.

June Carter Cash accomplished much in her life. Born into one of the pioneering families of country music, she was a musician, a singer, an actress, author and humanitarian. The roles she cherished most however, were those of loving and devoted wife and mother. Wildwood Flower is a glorious and fitting collection that presents a legendary musical heritage through the artist's own pure vision and voice.
