EAST GREENWICH, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 27, 2003
Strategic Sponsorships Help to Protect Popular Entertainment
Arenas and Improve Outdoor Living and Lifestyles
Summer's here and outdoor concerts often attract uninvited guests in the form of biting insects. According to experts' predictions, West Nile virus, a mosquito borne disease, will affect all 48 contiguous states across the nation this year. In conjunction with National Mosquito Awareness Week (June 22 - June 28), American Biophysics Corporation, manufacturer of the Mosquito Magnet(R), responds to this growing concern by working with Clear Channel Entertainment to protect several popular entertainment arenas from biting insects with their patented and scientifically proven technology.
American Biophysics Corporation, the leader in biting insect abatement technology, is setting up traps at the Jones Beach Theater in Long Island, NY, The ctnow.com Meadows Music Centre in Hartford, CT and the Tweeter Center in Chicago, Ill. to protect music enthusiasts throughout the summer. The company will display their Mosquito Magnet traps at 15-20 concerts protecting an estimated audience of approximately 1,000,000 people. In addition to providing traps at the concerts they will have booths set up to inform attendees on how they can protect themselves against biting insects and West Nile virus through an integrated pest management system in their own backyards.
American Biophysics Corp. currently has three Mosquito Magnet models on the market, each backed by more than 12 years of extensive scientific research and testing, offering consumers 24-hour protection from biting insects in a defined area. The Mosquito Magnet(R) is the ONLY commercially available biting insect trap on the market that utilizes patented CounterFlow(TM) technology, which works by dispersing a precise plume of CO2, heat and moisture, that draws female biting insects to the trap, while simultaneously vacuuming them into a net where they dehydrate.
American Biophysics Corporation, founded in 1991 and headquartered in East Greenwich, RI, is a scientific, research-based company that studies the behavior of biting insects and manufactures carbon dioxide-based insect abatement traps for consumer, commercial and government applications. The company was first-to-market with a carbon dioxide-based insect abatement trap for commercial use in 1999 and currently has three traps on the market, the Pro, Liberty and the Defender.
