FEATURE...Father's Day
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 2003
A recent national Best Buy survey revealed one-third (30 percent) of men have spent more than $2,000 on technology in the last year. This Father's Day, dads want gifts that fit this tech-savvy way of life.
Whether dad enjoys watching sports with buddies on a home theater system, capturing his child's life events on video or jamming to tunes in the garage, following are gift ideas that meet his need for the latest and greatest in technology.
Give Game
According to the survey, sports play a large role in 80 percent of men's lives. With more than 60 percent of guys getting their sports news online, make dad feel like he is playing with the pros with a six-piece Logitech 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System ($399.99) for his personal computer. This sound system makes a real "boom," supporting Dolby Pro Logic II with Dolby Digital and DTS hardware decoding. It also can "liven up" other toys with four connected audio sources for a video game console, home DVD, CD player or other portable devices.
Make Memories
The Best Buy survey found that more than 80 percent of parents use digital technology to capture children's sporting events. So, for Father's Day, a digital camera and printer dock make archiving and sharing special moments a breeze for proud dads. Kodak's EasyShare package features an EasyShare Zoom Digital 3.1 Megapixel Digital Camera DX6340 ($329.99) with powerful 4-time optical zoom, 3.5 advanced digital zoom and a professional quality lens; along with an EasyShare Printer Dock 6000 ($199.99) for creating instant, hard-copy photos for the yearly Father's Day wallet. The EasyShare printer works directly with the EasyShare camera, so there is no need to connect to a computer to print photos.
Take Tunes on the Road
For the dad who listens to music while mowing the lawn or going for a jog, the latest in MP3 players provide portable music in a high-tech package. Two options include the sleek iRiver Digital Audio MP3 Player IFP-190T ($199.99), which records up to four hours of music with 256 MB internal flash memory and a built-in FM tuner and voice recorder; and the sporty Rio Sonic Blue Sport MP3 Player S355 ($179.99), which records two hours of music with 128 MB memory, features a skip-free arm band, rubberized grip and is splash resistant for hard workouts.
To help Dad keep sane by avoiding fuzzy sports news and music, the DELPHI SKYFi XM Radio SA10000 ($129.99) makes it easy to listen to all-digital XM Satellite Radio while in the car, vacationing or at home with more than 100 channels of music, news, sports and entertainment programming. For even more portability, the receiver is compatible with the DELPHI SKYFi Portable Audio System ($99.99) "boombox" with high-quality speakers and docking station.
"Technology and entertainment gifts make life easier and more fun," said Barry Judge, vice president of Consumer and Brand Marketing for Best Buy.
