Polycom(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:PLCM), the world's leader in video and voice conferencing, conference bridges, and integrated web collaboration solutions, today announced that SKC Communication Products, Inc. has deployed a unified video and audio conferencing service by extending its existing Polycom video multipoint control units (MCU) to include Polycom VoicePlus audio conferencing technology. The combined unified conferencing platform enables SKC to offer unrivaled flexibility and ease-of-use for customers, while maximizing the value of its existing infrastructure of Polycom video conferencing MCUs by adding audio conferencing within the same system.
SKC has also implemented recently announced new capabilities for Polycom's leading MGC line of video multipoint control units (MCU) including the highest quality, lowest latency Continuous Presence available in the market; revolutionary user conference control through Click&View; and support for recently announced Polycom video system features including H.264* video, Pro-Motion video (60 fps), and Siren 14 (14 khz) wideband audio.
"SKC is a long-time user of Polycom's MGC multipoint control unit for offering video services to our customers, so when we decided to add voice services, Polycom was the natural choice for a high-quality, easy-to-use system. And because its VoicePlus product integrates directly into the existing MGC system, the integration was seamless and provides us with a single platform voice and video services," said Todd Vincent, director of SKC Conference Services. "In addition, by deploying the new MGC features and functionality, we're able to deliver to our customers unmatched quality, performance, and ease of use in hosted video conferencing services."
"By deploying a unified conferencing platform, SKC will be able to offer customers a truly integrated video and audio conferencing service that delivers unmatched flexibility and ease of use, while realizing the cost and management benefits of deploying a single integrated platform," said Phil Keenan, senior vice president and general manager of network systems at Polycom. "Taking the service one step further, SKC can offer customers integrated web conferencing through our WebOffice platform which works seamlessly with our MCUs to deliver a truly unified video, audio and web collaboration experience."
