MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2003
ReShape Inc. today announced that James P. Douglas, longtime executive of Cadence Design Systems Inc. (NYSE:CDN) and its design services subsidiary Tality, joined ReShape as president and CEO.
David Gregory, former president and CEO, becomes chairman. ReShape has demonstrated that its patented technologies can build full-chip production layouts of multi-million gate designs in 24 hours or less, with the highest quality of results.
"ReShape is at the forefront of an incredible opportunity," said David Gregory, chairman of ReShape. "By bringing Jim Douglas on board, we're extremely well positioned for the next stage of growth and ready to capitalize on a huge market for chip implementation."
Gregory continued, "Jim's experience at Cadence and Tality in building a world-class sales channel, identifying high-growth business opportunities and positioning companies for long-term growth and success is unprecedented in our industry. We're thrilled that he has come on board to take ReShape to the next level."
Douglas was a key executive in the Tality subsidiary of Cadence. During his four-year tenure at Tality, Douglas was most recently vice president of worldwide sales and marketing, where he had global responsibility for the engineering service business that generated $200 million in annual revenue.
Previously, he was at Cadence for eight years, spending his last five years there as vice president of product marketing, with global responsibility for Cadence's software business, which represented more than $950 million in annual revenue. Douglas holds a master of business administration and Bachelor of Science in Finance from Santa Clara University.
"Over the past few years, I've had the opportunity to review the business plans of many emerging EDA companies, but none were compelling enough to interest me," said Douglas. "ReShape is a big new idea. In my due diligence, I observed a consistent theme: customers struggling with the multiple physical design point tool -- Swiss Army Knife -- approach to EDA. This approach is on its last legs. Everyone is searching for a more productive solution and I strongly believe that ReShape has that solution. I am happy to have joined a new-generation EDA company."
