NIST, ATIS, T1X1 and Symmetricom Announce Sync Workshop; Open Forum on Current and Emerging Sync Issues to Be Held March 18-20 in Boulder, Colorado

Symmetricom Inc. (Nasdaq:SYMM), the leading supplier of network synchronization and timing solutions for the global telecommunications industry, announced today that it will sponsor the "2003 NIST -- T1X1 Workshop on Synchronization in Telecommunication Systems," scheduled for March 18-20, 2003 at the NIST laboratories in Boulder, Colorado. Symmetricom is supporting NIST in designing and coordinating the workshop, as well as providing some of the speakers. The workshop is hosted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Time and Frequency Division and the Standards Committee T1 Technical Subcommittee T1X1, a committee of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS).
Intended for every level of telecom sync professional, the workshop will present current and emerging synchronization issues in telecommunications systems. Practical and theoretical issues will be addressed, including the history of network synchronization and a standards overview, as well as sessions on synchronization in SONET/SDH, network security and sync, sync network architectures and more. session on Sync Measurement
Wednesday, March 19
-- Mike Garvey, vice president of engineering, will lead a session on Cesium -- Kishan Shenoi, chief scientist, will present a session on CDMA -- Jim Olsen, business development director, will present a session called Functionality of TSGs/SSUs -- George Zampetti, chief scientist, to present Future TSG and Clock Architectures -- John Ehrig, marketing manager, to present Securing the Sync Network session
Thursday March 20
