BOTHELL, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 2003
Allied Telesyn, Inc. (www.alliedtelesyn.com), a world leader in network technologies for the access edge, today announced the availability of its AT-GS908GB, the first member of a family of unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switches. Designed for medium size enterprise and education networks, the AT-GS908GB was developed to deliver reliable and cost-effective Gigabit connectivity to the desktop.
"Gigabit near to or at the network edge is not about ultimate performance but more about improved network flexibility and responsiveness," says James Mustarde, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "This new family of unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switches creates a compelling technology
for small and medium-sized networks looking to add performance in a very cost-effective manner."
The AT-GS908GB is equipped with eight auto-negotiating 10/100/1000TX ports and two Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC) expansion bays which are shared with the last two copper Gigabit ports. Allied Telesyn offers five hot-swappable, full-duplex GBIC models that support distances of 500 meters up to 70 kilometers. The switches can be installed in minutes either as desktop switches or in network equipment racks.
Available now at a list price of $545, the AT-GS908GB used in conjunction with Allied Telesyn's extensive line of Gigabit network adapter cards allows network administrators to future proof their networks by beginning the migration to Gigabit LAN connections today.
