DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 2003

Energy conservation in Pinellas County School District is getting a boost as the school district begins installing approximately 800 units of the VendingMiser.

Bayview Technology Group's innovative energy savings device for coin-operated soda machines is allowing Pinellas County School District to reduce energy consumption and save money.

VendingMiser is an activity-based plug-load control for coin-operated cold drink vending machines, which greatly reduces energy consumption without affecting the product. VendingMiser powers down a vending machine when there is no activity. Additionally, VendingMiser's smart technology monitors the room temperature and will automatically re-power the machine to ensure a cold beverage is served at all times.

Pinellas County schools' Energy Manager, Bob Godfrey, has determined through testing that over five years the district will save approximately $661,000 in electric costs with the implementation of VendingMisers. The tests showed that without a VendingMiser Pinellas County School District would spend upward of $1.5 million. However, after testing Bayview Technology Group's VendingMiser, Bob Godfrey estimated costs of $842,200, providing the $661,000 cost avoidance over five years.

This remarkable savings would free up money for the school to spend on educational purposes rather then on electric costs. Pinellas County School District is the seventh largest in Florida and the 22nd largest in the United States. "We hope that other school districts in Florida will follow Pinellas County and save money through energy conservation with our Miser products," says Marc Geman, President of Bayview Technology Group.

VendingMiser is part of the Miser Family of products at Bayview Technology Group. Other Misers include energy saving devices for snack machines and other office products. You can view Bayview Technology Group products at www.bayviewtech.com or they can be reached toll-free at 800/770-8539.
