Intec Launches End-to-End Solution for Revenue Generation and Sharing from WLAN
Business Wire, March 13, 2003
The Intec WLAN Solution is built using a number of existing Intec systems, each of which has been extensively proved in major production sites, including the world's major GSM providers and the first production 3G networks. Intec's convergent mediation system, Inter-mediatE, collects usage information from any kind of WLAN login and transaction server, charging gateway, switch, or roaming and billing system, and processes it according to user-defined business rules to generate complete, accurate, error-free records that contain all the information required to initiate rating and revenue sharing activities. At this stage any necessary third-party authentication, balance management and payment validation can be made using Intec's Active Payment Mediation component before confirmation to content delivery or transaction servers that the user request is allowable.
Validated usage records are then passed to InterconnecT, Intec's market-leading partner-to-partner billing system for rating, revenue allocation, and billing. At this stage the Intec WLAN Solution can incorporate roaming data provided by other WLAN access companies to ensure that customers enjoy a seamless experience and accurate billing regardless of location or home network. Billing data can also be sent for processing by other systems, such as those used for GSM, 3G or ISP customers, if the WLAN access is billed in that way.
"The Intec WLAN Solution will allow providers to ensure that have both service flexibility and maximum revenue potential as this exciting opportunity develops alongside existing access technologies," said Intec's CEO Kevin Adams. "The industry expects rapid growth in this area but it will stall if the revenue isn't there to support it in the longer term. The Intec WLAN Solution is an end-to-end solution that customers can rely on, because it uses components that are already proven worldwide in high-volume networks."
