CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 13, 2003
The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland has appointed R. Chris Moore as the Bank's first vice president and chief operating officer. The announcement was made today by Sandra Pianalto, president of the Cleveland Reserve Bank. The appointment was made by the Bank's board of directors and approved by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C.
Moore, age 47, is currently senior vice president in charge of the Bank's Supervision and Regulation, Data Services, and Credit Risk Management Departments. He assumes his new position effective March 16, 2003. Moore succeeds Pianalto, who became president of the Cleveland Fed in February 2003.
In announcing the appointment, Pianalto said, "We have the opportunity to lead the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland during an incredibly exciting and challenging time. Chris and I have worked closely together for many years. His demonstrated leadership abilities, his many years of experience working with financial institutions, and his extensive knowledge of banking issues make him uniquely qualified to serve in his new role."
Moore said, "I am honored to work with the Bank's leadership team. Their confidence humbles and encourages me. We have an exceptional group of employees who never waiver in their commitment to excellence."
"Our Bank faces significant challenges, given all the changes in the industry and in our financial services. But what is really exciting are the many opportunities to continue to improve the quality of service and product choices for our customers."
Moore joined the Bank in 1977 as an assistant bank examiner. He was appointed vice president in 1988 and senior vice president in 1996. Moore has served in a number of Federal Reserve System leadership positions. He is currently a member of the Strategic Plan Steering Committee for the System's Banking Supervision function, and he is a member of the System's Subcommittee on Credit, Reserves, and Risk Management. He is also chairman of the National Information Center Steering Committee.
Moore is on the Strong Families = Successful Children Vision Council of United Way Services of Cleveland, serves on the Quality Improvement Committee of Recovery Resources of Cleveland, and is a member of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2002.
A Cleveland native, Moore holds a B.B.A. in finance from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and an MBA in banking and finance from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is one of twelve regional Reserve Banks that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., comprise the Federal Reserve System.
