Veteran Carrier Solutions Company Expands Hosted Solutions
for Small to Mid-Sized Carriers
724 Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq:SVNX) (TSX:SVN), a leading provider of next-generation IP-based network and data services, announced today that it has reached agreement with ClearSky Mobile Media, Inc., a seven-year-old wireless data services company, to market a joint solution that includes software and services from both companies. Operated from ClearSky's state-of-the-art facilities in Orlando, Florida, the solution will include access to 724 Solutions' X-treme Mobility Gateway (XMG), North America's first-ever fully compliant WAP 2.0 gateway, as well as the comprehensive set of ProPlatform tools developed by ClearSky to help carriers provision, track, manage, and bill subscribers for services consumed.

ClearSky will implement the X-treme Mobility Gateway to meet the increasing performance demands of their ASP service. Designed for high-volume environments with flexible and open standards, the 724 Solutions' XMG provides session-based support for a wide variety of open mobile operator and device standards, including WAP 2.0 and HTTP. With its unique modular architecture, the XMG provides a highly scalable, future-proof foundation for growing mobile data networks.
"ClearSky is an ideal partner for us," said John Sims, 724 Solutions' chief executive officer. "Their years of experience and fast-growing customer base will help us deliver the benefits of WAP 2.0 to a large number of customers within a short period of time."
ClearSky's Mobile Internet Back Office service includes access to all the components necessary to offer turnkey wireless data service, i.e., servers, applications, networking and technical support. The company's new, usage-based business model allows carriers to roll out new data services quickly and easily, generating new revenues for their customers with minimal up-front costs. ClearSky, formerly Data on Air, Inc., is already the leading provider of hosted services for wireless data service customers in the Americas.
"Adding 724 Solutions' newest WAP platform to our data center will reinforce our position as a technology trendsetter," said Dean Fresonke, ClearSky co-founder and chief executive officer. "Our customers insist on the latest, proven technologies and applications, and expect us to deliver them at prices that fit their economic models." ClearSky is the industry's first Application Service Provider (ASP) to offer gateway services priced according to actual subscriber usage.
ClearSky's ProPlatform tools, which will be reconfigured to run with the XMG, help carriers provision, manage, and charge their subscribers. The key applications are ProVision, a Web-based integrated activation system that lets customer service personnel add or modify subscriber service options with just a few mouse clicks, while the "automatic subscriber management" feature allows subscribers to provision their own devices on the network; ProPay lets carriers offer wireless data services to prepaid WAP or SMS customers by monitoring data services usage and deducting from account balances; and ProTrends, a subscriber tracking tool that gives unprecedented insight into individual WAP, SMS and BREW usage patterns, letting carriers analyze rate plans, assess long-term trends, and plan maintenance windows.
With the addition of XMG, ClearSky will have full WAP 2.0 support for its premium entertainment content channels. ClearSky's growing portfolio of premium entertainment content is designed specifically for the latest cellular handsets and PDAs. The ClearSky entertainment offering is made up of "channels" of brand-name content that is formatted and optimized for small screen devices.
