SALT LAKE CITY & IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 2003

Sorenson Media(TM) and D-Link(R) Systems Inc. today announced that they worked together to co-develop a cutting-edge system design for real-time, high-quality, personal video conferencing that combines Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) technology, video software, a video communication processor and a user-friendly graphic user interface. Designed to deliver standards-based point-to-point access, the co-developed videophone uses the SVX video communications processor from Sorenson Media to provide the highest-quality video at the lowest possible bandwidth.

Unveiling a new generation of videophone technology, the D-Link DVC-1000 i2eye(TM) VideoPhone became the first affordable, easy-to-use videophone for the mass market that provides IP video conferencing and connects to any standard television. The previously complicated process of conducting a video conference call is simplified with the D-Link DVC-1000 i2eye. Now users can conduct a real-time video conferencing session by simply connecting a television to the D-Link DVC-1000 i2eye with a broadband Internet connection. At $299, i2eye is extremely affordable for individuals and small businesses while comparable in quality and features to videophones used by large corporations and costing thousands of dollars.

Using advanced video compression technology, the videophone maximizes the image and audio quality within the available bandwidth. The DVC-1000 can send and receive video at up to a full 30 frames per second with a 352X288 Common Intermediate Format (CIF) resolution at 512Kps transmissions. It is an ideal solution for consumers and small businesses with high-speed Internet access.

"We partnered with D-Link in co-developing the first easy-to-use, high-quality video conferencing device because of their strong design, development and integration capabilities as well as their manufacturing strength in the networking and communications market," said James L. Sorenson Jr., CEO of Sorenson Media. "Their global distribution capabilities and market connections made them the perfect choice as well."

"We teamed up with Sorenson Media because they shared our vision and brought the highest quality video design and engineering capabilities to the table," said Steven Joe, president of D-Link. "Together, we ended up co-developing an exciting new product for the mass market that is rich in features and easy for consumers to use."
