WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 2003
Netegrity, Inc. (Nasdaq: NETE), a leading provider of identity and access management solutions, today announced that it has expanded its public sector group and forged new partnerships to meet the needs of this growing market segment. As a result of e-government and homeland security initiatives, government agencies need to provide online information access to an increasing number of users including citizens, businesses, and other government agencies. In order to successfully implement these large-scale initiatives, agencies are struggling with how to securely provide access to information while ensuring the integrity of the transferred information. A number of agencies have turned to Netegrity's identity and access management solution to automate this complex process and simplify the delivery of information.
Many of the largest federal, state and local government agencies are using Netegrity's identity and access management solution to automate the process of access management, single sign-on, and user administration. Federal agencies using Netegrity's solutions include the Center for Disease Control, Defense Information Systems Agency, Department of Defense, Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, National Academies of Sciences, National Imagery Mapping Agency, National Institutes of Health, United States Air Force, United States Army, and the United States Department of Agriculture.
The United States Army created a portal, called Army Knowledge Online, to provide the Army's 1.2 million users, at locations around the world, with a single access point for information. Netegrity ensures that the appropriate individuals have access to the appropriate resources and provides users with single sign-on to over 100 applications.
Netegrity also securely manages the initiatives of many state government agencies including the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, State of Minnesota, State of Missouri, State of New Jersey, and State of Utah.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is using Netegrity SiteMinder(R) software to secure their portal, called Mass.Gov, to provide a one-stop gateway to government services and information, enabling citizens, businesses, and local government to retrieve information and conduct transactions efficiently and cost effectively across multiple agencies. This has enabled The Commonwealth of Massachusetts to streamline operations, simplify procedures, and cut costs, all while expanding online services.
"Many of the key government agencies are already relying on Netegrity to securely and cost effectively make more information available to citizens, employees, and contractors over the Internet," said Stephanie Feraday, vice president of marketing. "We anticipate that this will be a very important market for Netegrity and therefore have put in place a very talented team and forged key partnerships in order to further meet the needs of this market."
Netegrity Public Sector Team
In order to further support this growing public sector market, Netegrity has named Peter Morrison Director of the Public Sector team. Morrison has been with Netegrity for over four years in a variety of sales management roles. Also, Morrison has added several industry veterans to the public sector team including David Diegtel and Peter Locke as Federal Sales Managers. Both Diegtel and Locke have over 10 years of experience selling to the Federal Government.
In addition, Netegrity's identity and access management solutions have been added to immixTechnology's GSA Schedule (see related announcement "Netegrity Identity and Access Management Solutions Added to immixTechnology GSA Schedule")
Netegrity has also partnered with Zelinger Associates, Inc., a business development and marketing firm focused on the public sector. Zelinger Associates will further extend Netegrity's reach in the public sector by leveraging their extensive relationships in this market.
"An online portal is clearly the most efficient and cost effective way for government agencies to securely distribute a growing number of services and resources. Identity and access management are key enablers of this e-government strategy," said Mark Zelinger, president, Zelinger Associates. "The public sector is a huge opportunity and the volume of activity in this market could dwarf that of the commercial industry."
