ALN Consulting's CEO To Speak at Georgetown University Law Center on Affirmative Action Panel; Sophia Nelson Well Known Government Consultant, Sought After Speaker

The President and Chief Executive Officer of ALN Consulting, Inc., a boutique consulting firm specializing in government relations, marketing and business-to-business services for small and emerging companies, has been tapped as a panelist at a Georgetown University Law Center event.
Sophia A. Nelson, the founder of ALN Consulting, will join a panel of recognized experts to discuss Affirmative Action.
Ms. Nelson is one of the nation's premier African American federal procurement and contracting experts, political strategists, political commentators and legal experts. A widely published columnist, she is the author of two articles on affirmative action: "A Black Law Student's First Trails," Washington Post Outlook, October 1997; and, "Bringing Meaning to Equal Opportunity: Law Schools Still Fail to Mine Minority Talent," Legal Times, S44-45, week of September 1998. Ms. Nelson is also in the midst of authoring a book entitled "America's Preference Myth" which addresses the truthful impact of affirmative action policies on minorities and women in the 21st century.
The panel discussion entitled "One Step Forward, Two Steps Back? Grutter v. Bollinger and the Future of Affirmative Action," will be held on Monday, March 31, 2003, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Georgetown University Law Center, Moot Courtroom.
Joining Ms. Nelson will be Reverend Jesse Jackson, founder of the Rainbow Coalition; Goodwin Liu, attorney, academic author and former clerk to Chief Justice Ginsburg; Clarence Page, Pulitzer Prize-winning, nationally syndicated columnist and author; Roger Clegg, CEO and General Counsel for the Center for Equal Equality; and Reid Cox, Assistant General Counsel for the Center for Individual Freedom.
Georgetown Law Center Professor Neil Katyal will serve as the event moderator.
Sophia Nelson founded ALN Consulting in 1999, to increase the access of small businesses and minority-owned firms to federal and state government contracting opportunities. Among her specialties include homeland defense procurement, federal and defense contracting, IT issues and the regulatory process.
A sought after speaker and corporate presenter, Ms. Nelson has a strong background in public policy and Congressional and government relations.
