Logidex Will Deliver a Software Development Asset Blueprint

Assisting Visual Studio .NET Developers in Building Windows

Applications, Web Applications and XML Web Services

LogicLibrary(TM), the leading provider of software asset management tools, today announced it has reached an agreement with Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) enabling Visual Studio .NET developers and software architects to quickly search a central library of software development assets and identify those that best match business and technical requirements for Microsoft .NET Framework-based application development.

Under the terms of the business and technology agreement, the Logidex .NET Library, a software development asset (SDA) management solution, will integrate with the Visual Studio .NET integrated development environment (IDE). Users will connect to a Logidex .NET Library hosted on the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN), a vital online resource for more than three million Microsoft developers worldwide.

"We are excited for the Visual Studio .NET developer who will gain increased access to critical software development asset information," said Tom Button, corporate vice president for the Developer and Platform Evangelism Division at Microsoft Corp. "By making the Logidex .NET Library available on MSDN, many developers and software architects will be better prepared to effectively meet their technical as well as their business needs."

The Logidex .NET Library will be a catalog of metadata about software development assets and their relationships to each other. LogicLibrary's unique Active Design(TM) solution will enable any developer using Visual Studio .NET to scan a comprehensive list of Microsoft-defined .NET software assets and perform model-based searches of the library on MSDN. In addition, Logidex customers will have this library included in their implementation of Logidex, allowing them to map their software development assets - applications, components, XML schemas, documentation and other key building blocks of high-quality application development - to the Microsoft .NET Framework.

"Together, Microsoft and LogicLibrary are creating a resource that will be the starting point for architects, business analysts and developers as they undertake application development for the Microsoft Windows platform. Users now have a fast, efficient way to manage the entire lifecycle of vital software assets," said Greg Coticchia, CEO of LogicLibrary. "We look forward to working closely with Microsoft and its large developer community to assist in managing the software building blocks used for applications of all types as well as XML Web services."

Once integration is complete later this year, developers will be able to access the Logidex software development asset (SDA) viewer on MSDN from within Visual Studio .NET. In addition, the agreement provides for joint marketing and sales initiatives, including a 60-day-trial of the Logidex .NET Library for all Visual Studio .NET developers.

"As Web services become more and more prevalent within enterprises, these organizations will be tasked with keeping track of the myriad software assets from which they're composed," said James Kobielus, senior analyst at Burton Group. "LogicLibrary's Logidex .NET Library addresses the market's growing need for asset-tracking tools to keep Web services software infrastructures manageable over their lifecycles. An up-to-date software component metadata catalog should be the basis for all Web services development tools."

Logidex is a software development asset (SDA) mapping and discovery engine that represents inherently complex, enterprise application environments in a graphical, intuitive way. SDAs can include legacy applications, components, XML schemas, database tables, patterns, frameworks and other key building blocks of application development. Logidex recognizes what SDAs exist, where they're located, and how each fits into a company's business and technical landscape.
