LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 2003
Elite Information Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Elite Information Group (NASDAQ:ELTE) and a worldwide provider of integrated practice and financial management systems to professional services firms, today announced the immediate availability of the Elite(R) Apex Connector(TM) for Palm(TM) handheld devices. The Apex Connector for Palm is being showcased at the Legal Marketing Association's Annual Conference and Exposition this week at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco at Embarcadero Center.
Elite Apex, a firm-wide client relationship management solution featuring a centralized database that captures client and contact information for all firm users within a single relational database, is used by more than 125 professional services firms. The connector, which provides a direct link from Palm handheld devices to the Apex database and features full contact management functionality, is designed to assist lawyers, consultants, accountants and other professional services providers who use Palm handheld devices to access and manage contacts when they are away from the office. In particular, the connector will benefit professionals who rely on Palm devices to handle remote contact management and do not require direct integration between Apex and their email system. The Apex Connector for Microsoft(R) Outlook(R) is available for users who need synchronization of contact data between Apex and Outlook.
Today's professional services market requires lawyers, consultants and other professionals to spend increasingly more time outside the office, which is driving the need for tools that allow them to maximize billable time and operate effectively during travel time, courtroom appearances or face-to-face client meetings. Mobile lawyers and other professionals will benefit from the convenience and ease of accessing and managing contact information using the Apex Connector for Palm. Functionality includes the ability to enter complete information on new contacts and modify information for any existing contact. For increased efficiency, any changes made on a Palm handheld device to a company's address will be automatically made for all contacts at that same address. In addition, the Apex Connector for Palm features two-way synchronization so that any information added to the Palm device is reflected in the Apex database using Palm(TM) HotSync(R), the standard Palm synchronization technology. HotSync also ensures that all changes made to the Apex WebView or desktop versions are available on the Palm handheld device.
"The Apex Connector for Palm handheld devices represents Elite's latest success in meeting the wide-ranging needs of lawyers and other professionals, and specifically benefits mobile users who need easy access to the same crucial client information as their office-bound colleagues," said Chris Poole, CEO and chairman of Elite Information Group. "Our development strategy has always emphasized the use of the most advanced technologies to assist our clients in operating as productively and efficiently as possible, and the Apex Connector for Palm further broadens the wireless and browser-based tools available to Elite's clients."
