MyCourses System Delivers Anytime, Anywhere Access to the
Information and Resources Medical Students and Faculty Need Most
Sapient (NASDAQ: SAPE), a leading business and technology consultancy, today announced it is offering the only multi-channel course management system designed specifically for medical schools. The system, called MyCourses, is a comprehensive portal and course management framework that was developed by Harvard Medical School to enhance the learning experience for its students and faculty. Sapient's healthcare and education practices are working together to extend MyCourses to other medical schools. The offering provides systems integration, Adoption Management(SM) and application management services to ensure rapid implementation, user adoption and support of the system.
"Imagine a day when medical school students never miss a lecture, and they have access to course materials and medical references from anywhere. With MyCourses, that day is here," said Harvard Medical School Chief Information Officer John Halamka, MD.
MyCourses provides the framework for a centralized, customizable portal platform that aggregates intellectual property and enables improved information access via the Internet or personal digital assistant (PDA). The system filters large quantities of information, including medical references, course content and visual tools, allowing medical students to locate the information they need faster and spend more time learning. In addition to personalizing the delivery of medical education information, the system facilitates rapid curriculum development through instant online course evaluations and real-time student-teacher feedback.
"Medical schools that embrace MyCourses will benefit from being part of a 'community' of medical educators that share knowledge, best practices and technology advancements in medical education," said Sapient Director Mike Detjen, who leads the company's education practice. "Because it was developed for and by one of the nation's top medical schools, the system can be quickly tailored to meet medical schools' unique technology requirements. Sapient's ability to ensure MyCourses is rapidly implemented and used successfully will enable medical schools to achieve a maximum return on their technology investment."
The MyCourses system helps medical schools improve the quality of education by providing:
-- Increased student access to educational information that
enhances their learning experience
-- Improved online administrative efficiency, eliminating many
manual, paper-based processes
-- Rapid curriculum development through real-time faculty
feedback and student evaluations
-- Better maintenance of institutional intellectual property
through distributed authoring systems
-- A community of elite medical educators sharing best practices
and technology advancements.
